Memory problems

Question Posted Friday February 23 2007, 1:14 pm

I've had my laptop for about two months now and it has a total memory of 31.9 GB of memory. The problem is that I only have 5.20 GB left. I'm always getting new music/videos which I put on my laptop and it eats the memory. I've done the whole disk clean-up thing to free up some memory but there's still not a lot left and I doubt it will last much longer. My Dad says because it's a laptop it's harder to get more memory on it because it's all built in so I need to know if there is a way to get more memory and whether or not it's likely to be expensive.

I'm not sure if there's a way to get new memory, but if you're willing to spend $10 on a carton of blank cd's, you can save everything. Just download your music [random, by category, by band, whatever] onto one of those blank cd's, and get some jewel cases, [you can probably find those at Circuit City]and delete the file off of your laptop. You can keep all of your music, but you have more storage on your laptop for new music that you can put on cd's too. You can also put videos on cd's. You can save money, and keep all of your music!

yes, it will be more expensive. You can (usually) only have one internal hard drive in a laptop, so all your current data will be lost if you upgrade. What you might want to do is buy a large capacity flash/usb drive, and store your data on there. Programs will need to be in the internal hardrive, but static data like word documents and pictures can go on the flash drive. You can pretty much move your entire "my documents" to the flash drive.
