I'm 14/f, and I was on this pill for a year that made me lose my appetite. My doctor finally took me off of it...but now, my stomach has completely shrunk, because when you don't eat, your stomach shrinks. I can barely eat half of a hamburger without being so full, I want to throw up. I am *NOT* anorexic. I've gone from 88 pounds to 81 pounds. My doctor keeps telling me just to "eat more" but I can't just "eat more", or I'll get sick!

How do I gain weight and my appetite back?

eat a little bit but many times a day. for example, a *very* small portion of oatmeal (2-3 tablespoons), then in 1-1.5 hours have another 2-3 tablespoons of something else, etc. with each week bring the portions up by one or two table spoons until you can eat a full meal 3 times a day while feeling comfortably full.

avoid foods that are high in fats, this will be too much for your stomach.

She's right protein helps, but for you, you really need to see a nutritionist. I've had problems with food my whole life, and, even if you don't have an eating disorder, eating disorder clinics provide cheap advice about how to gain weight healthily. Because they have to help girls do it so often!

I'd say to drink protein shakes. They don't fill you up too quickly, and honestly, they're really good. =).

This is exactly what happened to my brother when he went on some whack add pills.
Drink and eat things with a lot of protein and eat very healthy. You want constructive weight, not fat from chocolate bars.
If all else fails, see a nutritionist and ask her for advice. She's an expert at things like this.

eat small portions of things that make you gain weight like crazy..for example things that contain cheese shrimps cakes etc or buy this things called ensure...which are a suplemental thing my bro is soo skinny he was 16 and eat very little portions ...and you eat your portion of food..and drink that it's has a lot of calories but its still healthy an they flavors like chocolate strawberry and stuff now he's way much heavier than how he was if you don't know what im talking about is this or other kind of suplements like the ones selled in GNC

hey, your doing fine. as long as your eating half of a hamburger your still getting food in your system. the more you keep eating those small portions, you will gain your appetite back and that half of a hamburger will turn into a whole hamburger. good luck =].

I'm no expert. But I've been to nutritionists and all that good stuff.

By "eat more" do you mean sutffing your face with six servings of pasta at one sitting? Because if you just increase how often you eat, you'll eventually "train" your appetite again.

Like, suppose you usually eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Try eating a snack after school. And again about an hour after dinner. Eating a LITTLE more every day (even if it's just two extra bites of chicken at dinner) will eventually help.

In the meantime, continue to see your doctor, drink plenty of water, and take vitamins. That way, if you're not getting enough from food, your body will still get what it needs.
