Sima answered Wednesday December 27 2006, 3:18 pm: Limewire is legal, however downloading programs that cost a lot of money such as, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Animation Shop, ect. is illegal because it is copyrighted. Downloading music is legal, but you should always be careful when downloading. When you download, make sure that the file does not have the extension '.exe' because those are executable files and they can damage your computer. In other words, if you see a file that comes up under your search as '[filename].exe' do NOT download it.
thelaura answered Wednesday December 27 2006, 2:24 pm: The program Limewire is very much legal. [However, downloading isn't!]
Everyone does it though.
The only risks you should look out for are accidently downloading virus'. It happens SO many times. So be careful. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
Brandi_S answered Wednesday December 27 2006, 2:20 pm: I think it is one of those borderline things, really. Basically, it gets away with being legal because while you download music or whatever, other users can download from your shared file. It is a sharing program.
Something that is VERY ILLEGAL is to download something and sell burnt copies. Big no-no! Never distribute what you copy or download. It is meant for your own personal use.
Be weary of downloading big files that take a long time to download. The whole time you download something, you leave yourself wide open to receive viruses and all that bad stuff. [ Brandi_S's advice column | Ask Brandi_S A Question ]
