Question Posted Wednesday November 22 2006, 2:59 pm
I want to dye my hair blonde. Right now, I'm a brunette, and I am SOO scared that I won't like it!!
I was wondering --> If I dye it blonde, and I don't like it, can I just ask the hair dressers to dye it back, or would I have to pay more?
The person below me had a great idea! Try a wig on and see if you like it.
And yea, it will cost you more to have a hair dresser dye it back...they wont just dye it for free. I work at a hair salon, and getting a color done is not cheap.
HypnotizexMe answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 8:34 pm: what you should do is get a blonde wig and try it on. if u like it, then go ahead and dye it :] & yes they will make you pay double if u ask em to redye it cause it was your choice that you didnt like it . I mean some people look good in both. so i think you should try and go for a new look. hope it looks good [ HypnotizexMe's advice column | Ask HypnotizexMe A Question ]
crazy4u6 answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 7:32 pm: Ok first yea u could have the hair dresser dye it back but, dont change your hair for appearance. You are who you are and you shouldn't want to change yourself [ crazy4u6's advice column | Ask crazy4u6 A Question ]

Okay well, I'm a blonde; so thanks for that ..
On a happier note.
If you get your hair done professionally, they might be able to complete the task without an orange blob as your result.
However, my friends that dyed their hair by themselves have had some pretty bad results; two got orange hair and three got grayish looking hair, not good.
My suggestion, try some highlights.
This will lighten up your hair without screwing it up.
If you are not happy with the results, some salons will dye your hair back free of cost. On the other hand, some salons will charge, it depends.

Imperialistic answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 5:26 pm: Yes, you would have to pay more so don't do it unless you -really- want it.
And why would you, hun? Brunette is -huge- this fall. Wait to go blonde till Spring. [ Imperialistic's advice column | Ask Imperialistic A Question ]
bijougirl4 answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 4:49 pm: I don't know but i bet that any dye would not look nearly as good as the natural hair color. Maybe you should just get highlights. [ bijougirl4's advice column | Ask bijougirl4 A Question ]
TheHeadHonchoPoncho57 answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 4:43 pm: You'd have to pay it double to dye it back. Also, it's not good for your hair, so I wouldn't recommend dying it unless you're absolutely sure that you want it.
Go get a blonde wig and put it on. If you like the look, then go for the dye. If it doesn't suit, then don't.
TEENAGExHEARTS answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 4:16 pm: before you go and buy wash out stuff at walmart or something read this. if you are a brunette and you want blonde hair the only way for you hair to get lighter is by bleaching out your color and THEN adding the blonde color. it isn't as easy as going dark because then you can just cover up your existing color with a darker color. so i you don't bleach your hair FIRST then your brown hair will just turn a reddish/orangy color.
its_melissa_DuH answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 3:53 pm: actully getting it done at the salon takes a lot of time and it costs more. just like what everyone else said, go to walmart or something and buy hair dye that washes out. my aunt was a blonde and she bought this brunette hair dye at the store that washes out for only 6 bucks! so if you like it, then get it done at the salon. good luck and i hope i helped!
xo_tragicglamour answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 3:50 pm: It depends on your hairdresser. If you get it done and then leave, and then after you've left you decide you don't like it, they you'll probably have to pay more to get it dyed again...You should try getting wash-out of that same blonde color that you want, to see what it looks like. If you truley like that color, then you should get it done so you don't have to get it dyed back. [ xo_tragicglamour's advice column | Ask xo_tragicglamour A Question ]
karlyndarlin05 answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 3:30 pm: yeappp you sure do.
thats exactly what happened to my freind.
not only do you have to pay for your hair to et syed twice, but it probabley wont be very dark and it will get reddish brown. the bleach stuff thats in the blonde dye is hard to cover up, even with dark brown dye.

i would try the wash out dye that you can buy at the grocery store, that way you can just wash the blonde out if you dont like it, or you can go to a salon and get it permanetly done. [ karlyndarlin05's advice column | Ask karlyndarlin05 A Question ]
Xo_Blondii_oX answered Wednesday November 22 2006, 3:23 pm: Ok this might sound weird and all but this is what my friend did. Go buy hairdye that you can wash out, get blonde and see how you like it that way you know for sure if you like it or not. If you go get it dyed and you dont like it, it will cost more (probably however much it cost to get it dyed) to get it switched back so you will end up paying double. Hope i helped.
