Cleaning your room really quickly isn't that difficult and you can make it fun with music and dancing. I found this article that suggests you start by putting things into piles by separating them starting in one corner. It can help cut down on making so many trips to the same location...like going to the laundry room again and again just to put up dirty clothes. Here:

It also takes note to ask for help if you need it. Ask your friends to come over, time yourselves, put on some good music, and laugh while you clean. Friends make everything fun and the time will FLY BY before you know it :)

If your room is stinky from the clutter sprinkle some baking soda down on the carpet, let it sit for 20 minutes, and then vaccum it back up. If you don't have carpets then put some pure vinegar in a few small dishes around your room and open your window to let it air out. The vinegar will take out some of the stinky odors and the window will get rid of the vinegar smell! ;) Voila! You'll be done in no time

throw EVERYTHING off the bed onto the floor. make your bed.

throw EVERYTHING (papers, clothes, pencils, dry trash, etc) onto the bed. have a trashcan/bag handy to throw anything like trash away.

sort through the pile: put all your clothes in one pile, all the trash in the trashbag, all the papers in one pile, all the "mischellinious" in another.

put away all your papers where they belong: in a binder, a desk, whatever

put away all your "mischellinious" items: for me this is usually pencils, makeup, books, etc

now sort through the pile of clothes: have a laundrey basket handy to put away all your dirty clothes, which you then throw in the washer, then the drier.

while its washing/drying you can have a break.

when its done drying, throw it on your bed and fold/hang away with all the other clothes.

vaccum and dust everything.

to maintain a clean room, make it a habit when you get up to make your bed and to put away youre clothes from last night. before you go to bed, pack you schoolbag.

it really helps. to make it fun, play some music, or maybe just try to finish it as fast as possible.

have fun cleaning!!! hehe

A good idea is to clean up a mess directly after you finish making it. For example, if you have a project that you're working on on your floor, and you have lots of supplies everywhere (glue, markers, paper scraps, etc.) then as SOON you finish your project, put your supplies away. This way, you won't have to tackle so much mess at one time, and it won't feel so overwhelming that you just put it off. Hope I helped!

Offer a trade.

For example, you will not clean your room (but you'll close the door and make sure its clean enough not to smell) in exchange for _________.

(Doing your own laundry, cleaning up after dinner, babysitting, a few dollars off your allowance)

Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt.

As I am now 34, it's been a long time since my Mom told me to clean my room, but the awful memories have a way of sticking with you (especially when my wife asks me to clean up the mess in the den). However, I still remember what worked best. It's a step-by-step procedure:

(1) Put on music. If you always use the same music, you will eventually train yourself to concentrate on cleaning while it's playing. I find that the "Flood" album by They Might Be Giants works best for me. (If you have a TV in your room, leave it off - it does not help.)

(2) Move everything off the bed.

(3) Make the bed.

(4) Get everything from the floor, and anywhere else it's not supposed to be, and put it on the bed.

(5) From there, put it all away. It is easier when you have all the mess confined to one area. The rule is, once you pick up an item from the bed, it can only be put where it goes, NOT back down on the bed again.

Once the place is clean, you might want to go through and see if there's anything you can throw out or pack into boxes in the closet. One of the great causes of mess is simple clutter.

Maybe instead of just throwing random stuff in random places disapline yourself to put it where it actually goes so that way when your mom yells you to clean your room, you don't have as much to clean. ♥

Don't let yourself get bogged down and overwhelmed with the whole task at once. Instead, when you have to clean your room give yourself a time limit to do a certain area. For example, pick your desk area or something and play some music while you are doing it to help pass the time. By breaking it up into sections you will feel more accomplished when you complete each and be more motivated to move to the next. If need be, take breaks so you don't get stressed. :)
