weight?

Question Posted Thursday September 14 2006, 11:49 pm

My dad says that I'm too skinny and need to put on about 10 pounds. I'm 5"1.5, and I'm 86 pounds.

I'm almost literally skin and bone. If I put on weight, where would the weight go? Is there any way to control where it goes, so it doesn't all go to my belly or my thighs?

Yeah, don't you love people when they tell you you're too skinny? Usually I just give them 'the look'

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location) is a good place to start to tone up and gain some weight. You're BMI states right now you are underweight, but going to 97 would be healthy.

Usually, if right now you are moving and excersing and working out, you're healthy. But it also means the amount of food you are taking in, is being burned to quickly.

Take note of your calorie in take, normally people have around 2000. Right now, to maintain my weight (108 lbs and 5'4"), I take in about 2500 calories.

Limit your cardio to 15-20 minutes, 2x a week. Any more cardio, you'll be losing too many calories.

The other days, work on toning and weight building. Doing so will make those calories you keep turn into muscle, not fat.

Good Luck!

The only way to control where the weight goes (that I am aware of anyway) is to use weights at the gym. That is really the healthiest option too. Start working out, and create a decent calorie surplus in your diet (no need to eat crap mind you, just good healthy foods in abundance).

Good luck

I have a friend this height and weight, and no one really thinks she needs to gain weight so I guess it just depends. Are you eating right? I mean cause if youre not, then yeah maybe you would need to put on a few pounds, but as long as youre like eating enough and stuff, I don't think you should worry about gaining weight.

first off, i understand that alot of the time, parents know best on many things- but i dont think he really has any rght telling you to gain weight. i think that as long as youre eating what you want, and are physically active, then you dont need to gain a pound.

I'm 5'1 and im only 85 pounds but i eat a lot of junk food and stuff. I think its just because different people have different body types. If your body is just like that, then no matter how much u eat, u wont gain too much weight. I think you should just eat 3 healthy meals a day. If you're dad still thinks you're too skinny, you should go see a docter and ask what to do.
I hope this helps!!

Wow, just start eating and sleeping. The wieght will distribute itself evenly. Eat A LoT! for about a month, then start doing abs if anything, don't do any exercise during that time. As you begin to put on, it will place itself unevenly, but after a while, the levels will weigh out. Aim for 102 pounds or more man.

lostinpraise answered Friday September 15 2006, 4:31 pm:
I'm exactly the same. The way I see it, while you're still growing, you should only try and alter your natural weight if its a risk to you. So if you're so underweight that its causing medical problems or so overweight its dangerous. Otherwise, just wait a while, bodies have a habit of balancing themselves out, especially over the teenage years. At the same time, make sure you're eating 3 proper meals a day, and have the right attitude to food and weight (as in, not scared eating the right amount of the right stuff, and not just seeing it as comfort, or getting obsessed about weight)as well as getting enough excersise. I think you'll be just fine. Hope everything works out ok, ask me if you need any more advice!

Do you not eat right? Because if you don't and you want to gain a few pounds then just start eating healthy. I'm 5'5 and I weigh 109 pounds.. My doctor wants me to gain some too but she said just drinking milk and following that food pyramid thing might help.. but eating fast food will make it go to places you do not want. Or if you like the way you are, don't change yourself.

Now you do not weigh very much, but you are also not very tall. While you do need to gain weight, be carefull to make sure that you don't gain more then 20lbs, because with your hight it is easy to be over weight.

That is actually kinda underweight,
but everyone's bodies are different.
Just eat healthy, and normal, whatever you usally eat, because it seems you just have a fast motabolism if you're skinny and not trying. :]
