I know that if you don't eat, it actually makes your body gain weight, or so everyone says. But honestly, if you ate nothing, or say 1 apple every day for 2 weeks..would you lose or gain weight? I've always been curious about this. Thank you.

It's true that your metabolism would slow and your body would do everything it can to conserve the fat stores of your body, but that can only do so much. If you are starving and not eating any food (to speak of) then it is physically impossible to gain weight or even stay the same size unless you have a hormonal problem. This is, obviously, a terrible way to try to loose weight and you would most certainly need medical attention after trying it for two weeks. But yes, you would began to waste away. caramella answered Friday August 11 2006, 2:23 am: You would start off by gaining weight, then you dont gain OR lose.It is because when you dont eat OR exercise, your body is used to you eating a lot and your body stores the fat,but when you DONT eat, your body brings out all the stored fat and you GAIN weight.Thats why they always say that if you want to lose weight, you need to exercise AND diet.Cuz when you exercise, youll be burning the stored fat too. Not a very effective method. [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]

younglovex answered Thursday August 10 2006, 2:57 pm: Well, I've been told that when you stop eating your body thinks that it's going into starvation mode, which is true for this instance. So, it stores fat for your stomach to eat. Eventually though that stored fat will be eaten away & you will become skinnier.

In all honesty though, you will have to start eating again, & when you do your metabolism will be soo slow it wont be able to burn off the new calories your consuming & you'll put the weight right back on. I would recomend dieting or exersize. [ younglovex's advice column | Ask younglovex A Question ]
XkittyOkatX answered Thursday August 10 2006, 2:50 pm: I dont' think the apple a day thing is a very good idea, I'm sorry. This would slow your metabolism down and it would make it harder for your body to lose weight, since it wouldn't be use to burning fat anymore.
Make sure you eat a healthy three meals a day, but notice I said HEALTHY. Eat your greens, fruits and veggies, things like that. Maybe if you want to lose weight, try switching drinks around. Make a goal to drink only water for a long period of time. That way, you'll be healthy, and you wont be wasting calories through a drink. [ XkittyOkatX's advice column | Ask XkittyOkatX A Question ]
orphans answered Thursday August 10 2006, 2:41 pm: Eating one apple a day for two weeks is very unhealthy because your body isn't getting what it needs and you'll be tired all the time. But, it will make you loose weight. What makes you gain more weight is once you stop eating, your body goes into famine mode and your metabolism slows down so you won't burn fat as easily. So, after the two weeks, when you start eating again is when you'll gain weight because of how your metabolism went down. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
