Alin75 answered Monday July 3 2006, 3:17 pm: Ok, some mixed advice there. First off, the straight answer is of course "no" it wont. That much people are in agreement about it seems.
I did want to clear up some of the other advice given. First off 4- 6 meals a day (i.e. eating every 3-4 hours) is the way to go. 3 meals a day is simply not as good.
One of the reasons why eating frequently is better is because it helps to speed up your metabolism. If your metabolism slows, weight loss becomes very difficult. Your body may also start digesting muscle instead of fat.
Now, the other thing that need clarifying is the whole sit- up/ crunch thing. Neither (yes neither) will help reduce your stomach fat. Despite popular (misguided) belief on this site, fat loss cannot be targeted. The human body does not work this way (dont believe me, just look it up). These exercises will build muscle on your stomach thats all. Their value as calorie burners is pretty damn low.
The only way to lose fat is to lose weight overall. So, cardio workouts, weights workouts, sports in general etc are all beneficial. They will help you burn more calories than you consume. It follows from this that full body workouts (hitting all muscle groups etc) is the way to go. The order of fat loss however is not in our hands... unfortunately.

Eat all meals..run and do ab workouts. Trust me, it will go away soon. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

xomichelle891xo answered Sunday July 2 2006, 9:41 pm: The only EFFECTIVE way to get a flat stomach is to excercise! Abs, Abs, abs. So, do 50 crunches before you go to bed at night. If you do this, you will see lots of results. Also, eat healthy such as fruits. I know you think its better to eat 1 meal, but try 5 very small meals. If you do all of these, your stomach will be flat quicker than not eating. :] [ xomichelle891xo's advice column | Ask xomichelle891xo A Question ]
chicka_chick09 answered Sunday July 2 2006, 9:07 pm: you cant eat one meal a day because that will do the opposite of what you want! YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT if you do that. if you dont eat enough, your body will STORE all the fat, and you will just gain more weight! now, if it is only your belly that is fat and hips that are fat and not any other part of your body, all you have to do it run not necessarily alot, but run. and do crunches. it will help ALOT if you buy this thing called the cross crunch, i have it . IT IS 400 times more effective than normal crunches! and you dotn even have to work out alot. every day just do 12 crunches to the right and 12 to the left and your done. you will have better abs, and a flatter stomach. you wont even see any fat. if you want to lose weight. just run and EAT right! dont eat normal bread, eat tortilla bread...much less fatening. and eat tuna, and cut down on the meat!
hope i could help!
take care and good luck [ chicka_chick09's advice column | Ask chicka_chick09 A Question ]

clarayow answered Sunday July 2 2006, 11:54 am: Hello! Eating one or two meals less isnt exactly the best way to lose that pouch.
Eat just enough to make you feel full and satiated. After eating, walk around for at least 15 minutes . If you wanna sit down after your meal, make sure you sit up straight. Do NOT bend your stomach when you sit down cos that will contribute to your pouch.
To speed things up and reduce that pouch, I suggest doing crunches instead of sit ups. Cos i've noticed that people who do sit ups have abdomens that are a little bigger than the region above the belly button, hence giving the appearance of a tummy or pouch. And there's normally an invisible line separating these two regions and definitely doenst give you a nice, flat and trim tummy. I think its cos when they do sit ups, pressure is applied to that portion of the stomach and hence explains the reason for the line.
So in short,
1)eat just enough
2)walk about after your meals for at least 15 minutes(the best is at least half an hour or until you dun feel that full)
3)sit up straight if you choose to sit down after your meal. You can hunch or bend your stomach only after you dun feel that full.
4)Do crunches to trim up your tummy.
in addition****
5)sleep on the side of your body and not on your back. Cos sleeping on the side helps in digestion and can possibly help in reducing the pouch. Btw, havent you ever realise that you feel more comfortable lying on your side?Especially a short while after you've had your meal? But pls, try not to lie down to sleep after you've eaten.cos its fattening.
FernGully answered Sunday July 2 2006, 11:21 am: To be honest, your stomach will probably bloat out if you kept that kind of eating routine for two weeks. I think you would be much better off to eat smaller meals, but a few times a day (instead of eating a large breakfast, lunch and dinner, have a fairly big breakfast, two small meals before dinner, a medium dinner, and then another small meal before 8pm.) And with that, do an even regiment of sit ups each night when you go to sleep. Do say 20 regular sit ups, then 20 of the side sit ups (you reach one of your elbows towards your opposite foot and then do the other side). The regular sit ups will work the middle of your stomach fat, the sides will work for the sides.
Again, I don't recommend reducing what you eat, instead spread out a full set of meals without eating too much at one time. If you're hungry during the day, snack on fruits and vegetables in between the smaller meals and you should really notice a difference. Plus, you should feel pretty good too.
