Straightening hair

Question Posted Friday June 30 2006, 1:54 am

I have curly hair a little below my shoulders and I really want it to be straight. With the straightener I have right now it takes me about two hours to straighten my hair after I shower, so it's starting to prevent my from showering as much. What kinds of good cermanic hair straighteners/products are there? I did some research on an Oblivie Hair Straightening System, does anyone know anything about that?

This helps prep your hair for being straightened. I also suggest another straightener. My friend has really frizzy hair, she baught a new staightener and her hair was THIN. You can also try getting your hair thinned so its easier on you to straighten. Good luck! :)

Hmmm. Chemicles will SCREW UP YOUR HAIR.
but there is one. (my hair dresser told me , but im not sure if there using it yet) called IO-BIONIC i think. so keep an eye out for that. its suposed to work good with out killing it.

as far as ceramic straigheners, i would suggest ANDIS ( model csi-2e) it is amazign. i have very curly hair. its not even springy its just crazy. its thik and fluffy and curly. ANd it just kills the curls. one slide down and its like gone. only like 20 bucks at walmart. i have hair VERY unmanagable and below my shoulders, and it hasnt taken me more then 45 min yet. i know what you mean about the showering thing. i just pull it up in a bun and us the tub. i cant wear my hair down unless its straight or it looks gross. haha. good luck

Helen Of Troy - Ceramic Series.
Price can range from $30-$50 depending
on the size of the plates you plan on getting.
I got 2 and a half inch, which was around $45.

It takes me about half an hour, I do mine in layers too. My hair gets very straight, my straightener works just as well as a Chi or a Coloroliss without having to pay $170 for it =]

My hair straightener is the Remingont Wet2Straight brand. I got it at wal-mart for about $30. You could get it for about $20 if you buy the little one, but I didn't. It works really well too. You can control the power. Anything below 12 is for dry hair and anything about 12 is for wet hair. It has holes to release the steam if you straighten your hair wet and as long as you use it properly it won't take long. If you have thick hair like I do then what you should do is straighten it by layers. It takes me about a half hour and my hair is shoulder length. Before I got it cut a few weeks ago it took me about an hour but that was because I wasn't using the straightener correctly. My hair dresser helped me with that. But if you use the directions and set it correctly then it shouldn't take too long.

Anyway, here's a link you can visit. It's not the same kind I have, but it's close

Here is another site that has a few different types of ceramic hair straighteners, it may help you with what you're looking for. Thought the cheapest of these is bout $40, these one's are pretty expensive.

Are you sure that you don't mean oglivie? I did a google search and they had that stupid "do you mean..." thing pop up.
Anyway, here are a few more links, I think the top one will explain the ogli... hair system

The straighter I use it called "Andis". Since I have hair also below my shoulders I use it & it takes me about 15 minutes to straighten my hair. It costs $17 the most but I paid about $14. I got mine at Wal-Mart but, you can get them at other stores such as Target, costcos, etc. It`s also a ceramic straightener. But, to tell you the truth there is no straightener that cannot burn your hair. So I think the best idea is to use straightening products suck as shampoos or sprays. Like you said your hair gets curly after you take a shower well, DO NOT straighten your hair right after you take a shower even if it`s dry. Because your hair is puffy & not matter how long you straighten your hair 2 hours or w/e it will not become straight. Wait about a couple of hours then you can try straigntening it.If you straignten it when it`s puffy believe it or not it get puffier & curlier =( ! I know this has been a loong answer but I just wanted to help ! ♥

Well, you can always try anti-frizz or straightening shampoos. You'll find the best ones at your hair dresser. But, you can find them at drug stores too. For a hair straightener, I use a CHI. It works AMAZING. Its a ceramic straightner, and although expensive - its worth it.

Also, there is such a thing as getting your hair chemically straightened which is like a perm but this has its risks.

scroll down to the bottom where it says consult a professional.

:] hope this all helps!

i'm not quite sure about the oblivie, but my hair is extremely curly & i use the Revlon ceramic straightner. it takes me about 20 mins, sometimes 10. here's a website-

also, if you have frizz, you can use John Frieda's hair serum. it helps with curls at the ends & it takes a lot less time to straighten your hair.

-hope that helped!♥

Well, you could get it done in a salon, but that might be really expensive.

I've only heard of Ogilivie, not Oblivie (or was that a typo?)

The Ogilivie Hair Straightening System is actually really good (from what I hear. I've never actually tried it out myself), but you should also try this stuff:

That's what I use.

I really hope I helped. =]
