Hey I am for this school year I really want to get A's in every class. I am willing to work my butt off for it. I just would like any advice you guys think would help in keeping organized, and motivated…or just any tips at all for getting all A's. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
missmanda answered Saturday July 8 2006, 10:51 pm: folders, folders, folders! haha. folders are a great way to keep your work seperated. get one folder for each class. make sure you do your homework right when you get home so you don't forget about it later on. and speaking of forgetting, don't forget to write down everything in class right when you are assigned to do something. start projects as soon as possible. go the extra mile for projects (always worth it). try and study everyday, even if its not for a test, study what you've learned in class, everyday. and make sure you remember to have fun here and there, so your stress doesnt pile up. just make school your first priority and everything will be great! good luck :) [ missmanda's advice column | Ask missmanda A Question ]
crack_is_wack answered Tuesday June 27 2006, 10:26 pm: Here are some tips that help me:
-HIGHLIGHT. Whenever you have to do a reading, just highlight the important parts. Buy a bunch of different highlighters and color code. (For example, in history class, you could have yellow for main ideas, pink for names, blue for dates, etc.)
-Set goals and give yourself rewards. You could watch 10 minutes of T.V. every time you do half an hour of homework, or eat a piece of chocolate every five problems you finish.
-If you need help, get it! Ask a parent, friend, teacher, or sibling when you get confused. But never just straight-up ask for the answer; get someone to help you work you through it, not do your homework for you.
-Raise your hand in class. Even when you aren't sure if you have the right answer, take risks and do your best.
-Don't leave long-term projects until the last minute. Give yourself a schedule and stick to it. Have a day-to-day plan of what work you need to get done.
-If you need to memorize facts, write a song! For science class I wrote a rap about evolution, and that's one of the few things we learned that year that I really remember.
-Go the extra mile. If your teachers ever offer extra help sessions, even if you're doing well, it always helps to do everything you can to practice. You should also take notes even when it's just optional.
-Get your parents to help proofread your essays. Actually, get anyone and everyone you can to proofread for you. It really, really helps.
-For English class, get into the habit of writing and typing with proper grammar. Whether you're emailing your friends or jotting something down in your diary, pretend you're going to turn it in to a teacher and dONt wRitE lyK dIs!!1 (Although reading your question, you seem to have that down already)
-Use tab dividers in your binder. Everyone organizes their stuff differently but I would recommend having a section for each subject, plus one for homework that you still need to do. It's hard not to get lazy about just randomly shoving stuff in there, but it makes a huge difference if you take the extra couple seconds to put things in the right place.

jumadel answered Monday June 26 2006, 5:20 am: Hi, focus on what you need to do for your work. Study it until you understand it. Ask for help. Then put a bit more into your work than needed. Things like enough sleep, food and fresh clear mind to the day should also work. The secret to success is that you've got to be MOTIVATED to do it. You need to be determined, however if you keep aiming for the top mark, it may cause stress and too much determination can actually get you a lower grade. Just go into your work with a fresh mind and motivation and you will get good marks. Daniel. [ jumadel's advice column | Ask jumadel A Question ]
orphans answered Monday June 26 2006, 1:15 am: Dear Friend,
It's great to see someone taking initiative in their studies - you have the right attitude for an A-student.
- Study in a place with plenty of light, a comfortable chair, enough storage space, few distractions, and all the materials you'll need.
- Keep a bottle of water on hand and take regular sips. Water keeps the brain hydrated, and can improve focus when studying.
- Be attentive. Focus on what your teacher is saying. Try not to daydream and let your mind wander to other things. It helps to sit in the front and center of the class, and to maintain eye contact with your teacher.
- Have a peppermint in your mouth when studying. As strange as it may sound, it clears your nasal passage for fresh air. More fresh air means more oxygen to the brain, which helps with memory.
- Use your date planner. Record when things are due, and when you plan to achieve them. Even telling yourself that things are to be submitted before they actually are will force you to complete them on time. It also allows additional time for editing and kicking back!
- After every shower, write at least one fact with your finger on the foggy mirror. Not only will you be forced to recall it, but the fact should reappear next time the mirror gathers steam. Spooky. Do do do do.
- Colours and shapes work in your favour. Write notes on coloured post-its and leave them around your room. Circling and highlighting can also allow you to retain information longer.
