tampons

Question Posted Tuesday June 6 2006, 12:30 pm

okay so when i wear tampons i almost always use the "heavy" ones because i don't find the "regular" ones protect me as much. but when i take out the "heavy" ones (after 7-8 hours) they are sometimes not fully absorbed. are there any risks in this?

Not really, the reason why is cuase your flow isn't as heavey as the tampon is made to obsorb. You probably have a light flow and just using a heavy one. but comfort comes first so if you feel more comfortable on using the heavy, the why change a good thing?

I would switch back to regular but wear a thin pad as well. I don't think there are any risks in not having a tampon fully absorbed, but u may not have as heavy as a flow as you think. Hope I helped!

yah usually the like tampons that are supposed to absorb more like the heavy tampons have a higher risk to get TSS. try putting in the "regular" ones and change it more often

well you are only supose to keep them in for 6 hours really because after that the chance of TSS

if you are a teen i would never use heavy... its very unsafe

and if its not fully absorbed that means you are using too big of a size and that increases the risks if TSS

It depends on what you mean by "fully absorbed". If you only see a little white then you are fine. If it is more then half white, then use regular. Do not leave a tampon in for more then eight hours, ever. It ups your risk for TSS. The person who said that you are either susceptable to TSS or not (and if you're not, you'll never get it) is wrong, It is caused my a microorganism that thrives in such environments. It is very uncommon, but those warnings are on the box for a reason.

Did you know that you either have the propensity for TSS or you don't? Yes, TSS is a very serious risk, but most of us are never in any danger of it. Meaning, you could wear a tampon for 48 hours and still not get TSS, though I wouldn't recommend it... it's gross.

You're totally fine wearing the heavy tampons, but if they're not ready to come out after 7-8 hours then why don't you leave them in until they are? I wouldn't suggest this during then end of your period, but during the heavy parts it'd be fine. Of course, if you start running an inexplicable fever then take it out right away and consider getting your ass to a doctor who can check out the TSS symptoms.

I will caution you about taking a tampon out way before it's done though, because the cotton (mix) will be [sucking] as hard as it can against the walls of your vagina. When you yank that tampon out while it's still dry it'll be roughing up the very soft tissue in there. Be good to your cooter and it will be good to you.

You might consider getting yourself a Keeper. You can learn more about them at <a href="[Link](Mouse over link to see full location);. I've never used one before, but I've heard from several friends that they're absolutely wonderful.

no, there isnt any possible way for this to be any kind of risk- but i woulr reccommend using the regulars- but changing them every 5 or 6 hours. they say you can leave them in up to nine hours, but there have been alot of cases with woment wearing them as long as 7 hours and getting tss. i would suggest sticking to the regulars because they pose less health risks in the first place- and changing about every 5 hours. much more safe. hope i helped!
