depending on how fast and how high your heartbeat it, you could lose a lot or a little. i would recommend incorporating other exercises to isolate the problem areas and add a healthier diet as well. treadmilling alone won't lose 15 pounds in less than a month, so you're gonna have to work hard for this.

It doesnt just depend on how long you run or how fast. A huge part of it is the food. Are you eating healthy? Try going to the gym and using other machines too.

It depends on how fast you run and how much you eat and how active you are otherwise. Say you run 20 mintues at a very slow jog, eat alot of food, and don't do anything else but sit on your butt, then, no, you won't be close. Also, remember that muscle weighs more than fat. I've gained a couple pounds since I started running almost every day, but that's becasue I have alot more muscle. If I were you, I would cut back on sweets (but DO EAT regular, good sized, meals), and either sprint for 20 minutes or run for at least an hour. Not many beginner runners can run 4 miles in 30 minutes. I'm a decent runner and some of my friends are better than me and we all have about 10 mintue miles (like mine was tenchically 9 minutes 50 seconds and someone elses was 8, etc.)You can also get active in other sports. For example, I run track and horseback ride, and one of my best friends runs track and plays soccer.

What not to do...do not not eat. make sure you eat enough for the amount of calories you are going to burn.

If you mean by the beginning of June, then no way. You should not even be trying to get close to that figure. It is not healthy to lose more than 2 pounds a week, and even there I have read more conservative recomendations. Remember also that your body will start digesting your muscles if you push yourself too hard (and eat too little). That is the kind of weight loss no one wants.

Running 20 mins or 2 hours is not conclusive on its own in regards to weight loss. Its the negative calorie balance that you create. So, your diet has to be under control.

For best results eat about 500 calories less than you burn (this is where exercise comes in of course). Eat many small frequent balanced meals (4-6 per day), drink plenty of water, cut down on saturated fats/ sugar/ junk food in general, and eat a fair amount of protein.

I would recommend some weight training on the side if you have the time (it boosts your metabolism), but if all you want to do is run then that is just fine. Just make sure you have a healthy diet that gives the body all the nutrients it needs, yet with a small calorie deficit.

Good luck.

well i have to say 20 min on a treadmill doesnt do much for most people. i would say really your prob not even gonna lose 10 pounds by june! if you want a better workout do atleast 4 miles or (3o+ min) on a treadmil or go outside for 20 min and run instead. youll get better results that way. Also to loose more than 5 pounds in a month you really need to change your diet. also try swimming, yoga, and anything outdoors!

Well, actually it is possable for you to lose the weight. Running on the treadmill for 20 mins a day is a great start! Also, watch your portion control, cut out eating at night and drink loads of water. as much as you can stand in a day, drink it. I know, it sounds annoying. When I first started, I thought how can anyone be that thirsty all the time? But, not only does it help with weight loss, it does wonders for your skin & hair. So, just keep the faith & keep moving & the weight will fall off in no time.

OHilovetravis answered Tuesday May 9 2006, 4:08 pm:
Hey,

Yes it is possible for you to loose weight. Try keeping a paise when you run. For example, try running a certain speed at a certain time. But don't stop, just push yourself to stay at the same speed you have started out as. And remember dont start off fast an then slow down or stop because that can mess up your paise an cause you to overwork your cardiovascular system an your heartrate! So keep pushing yourself an set goals for yourself like different times to run daily or go like 20min one week an 25 the next an you know just keep your head up you will be fine if you keep doing as you have been!!

I think it could be possible. Try to push yourself a little more each day, it will increase your stamina and help lose weight. Also remember to eat healthy foods, keep out like sugars, greese, basicly junk food, i think you know what falls under the category of junk food. Eat more fruits and things with vitamins in them. :] Good Luck!
