Theme theater

Question Posted Wednesday April 12 2006, 10:59 pm

I have always thought it would be a cool idea to have a movie theater that ran only horror movies. It would play new ones, old ones, all the classics (such as Rocky Horror Picture Show). I am just wondering what other people thought of this. Would anyone out there be interested in going to a horror theme theater

Oh, I'd LOVE such a theatre! What a great idea! Just picture it, people coming to watch Vampire Movie Marathon or all the Omen-films in a row! And the steff should all be dressed as vampires, frankenstein monsters and wizards, while selling Blood-red Slush Ice!

I love this idea, you could set it up like a haunted house as far as decorations...like halloween all the time! I would be all about it.

Hi. COOL!!! That idea sounds pretty cool. ....And it could be an old fashioned move theater... the ones where you watch the movie from your car (okay, I may have gotten carried away) As bloody awesome as that would be, however, I think for a horror theater to stay in business it would either have to be open (at least as a horror-oblytheater) only a month or two or three a year (and not in a row) so that people don't get bored of it. OR it would have to be 'haunted' and the whole place with a horror theme (the decoration and everything) that way it attratced tourists and it would be a place peopel went with their family or frineds or boyfriend or girlfriend every once in a while, but a lot of people would go. A 'haunted house' sort of theme would be a good idea, to have the staff workers dressed up scaring the people at the entrance and exit and people taking pictures with them and stuff. Anyway, your idea is pretty cool. I like it.

That idea sounds good on paper sure, but I don't think that it would really work. Horror movies aren't as good in the theater as they are at home with a group of friends. You get more freaked out and don't get embarassed screaming a lot. Plus, for the most part, people that go to the theater the most are middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students. They don't have a lot of money. If they wanna see an old horror flick, it's cheaper just to rent. People go to the theater to see new movies. Being on the big screen isn't as important as the value of the product. If you can just rent it, most people will do that instead. The main reason people go to the theater is because at that time it's the only place where you can see the movie at all. Sure there are new horror movies coming out and everything, but not enough to keep an entire theater from going broke. A better idea would be to have a regular theater with maybe a horror room? Have theme rooms in the theater where the horror one would have gargoyles and stuff on the walls. Any horror movies would be played in there. I don't really think that's a great idea either, but it's the best I can do. There's a reason why things are the way they are. Businesses have to think about making money, not just about making their customers the happiest and most impressed that they can be. I just don't see the horror theater doing well business wise as cool as it does sound.

It sounds brilliant. Many people like horror movies and I'm sure if you live in a big enough city that you'll get many movie goers.

If I liked them I would go. It definitely seems different. I'm more of a Comedy person, myself. But her, it's your idea and many people like scary movies. Go for it someday!

Actually, there are a lot of people who are obsessed with scary movies. I love them. People like to be scared. But you would make a lot less money than regular movie theaters just because the genre is limited to one and regular movie theaters have a variety of genres to choose from. But I think it's still a good idea, go for it!

I don't care for most horror (except for the Bruce Campbell Evil Dead series, John Carpenter's The Thing, and Re-Animator), but I think that's a great idea.

Personally, I wish there was a theater that showed old classics like the Marx Brothers comedies, The Sound of Music, and the classic old Looney Toons cartoons.
