Alright well DON'T GO TO CLAIRES! I've gotten both my cartilages done there and thye suck. The earrings stick out badly and the people there have no idea what they are doing they practice on teddy bears practically. DEFINITELY get it done with a needle they heal nicely and hurt just the same amount my friend alreayd has 7 on each ear of cartilage so its not that bad. I could be saying this because well i have a high pain tolerance but cartilage is like getting your lobe pierced except its tender afterwards. So def. get it done with a needle

My cousin got her's pierced and it really messed her ear up. She might just be super sensitive, but you need to be careful and ask the person who pierces your ears about sensitivity.

It will sting a little afterwards, and it will be sore. I can assure you of that. But, however, you need to clean it at least two times a day, twist it around a whole time at least once a day, and that's pretty much about it. Enjoy!

well when i got mine done it didnt hurt that bad but the next day it hurt more but that was because i pierced it myself.. its probably not going to hurt that much but just clean your piercing everyday so you dont get infections!

At first it kind of does but thats only for like a second like any other peircing. So its really not that bad at all. And then when you get it done you can sleep on that side (the side you got peirced) for a while.

It does hurt i`ve gotten mine pierced 3 times..

If you clean it every day then it shouldn`t get infected..

It didn`t hurt when i got it pierced like at the moment but for a good month i say it hrts all my friends agree too..It hurts to sleep on that side..

Also usually they say you can change the earring in 12 weeks but i had to keep mine in for a year in order for me to be able to take it out..

My friend got hers done about 2 months ago so I asked her for you. She said that it stings. She said a good place to go is Claire's because they are really hygenic and they have a nice variety of earrings to choose from.

To me it doesnt hurt no worse than a regualr piercing just make sure that you get it done at a good place that sterilzes EVERYTHING. because cartilage doesn't have its own blood supply, So if an infection does develop from bacteria on the inserted stud, commonly used antibiotics can be in-effective because there's no blood to transport the medication to the cartilage. Ear cartilage, with its reduced blood flow, is more prone to serious infection than the earlobe. Not trying to scare ya'... I have my cartilage pierced and never got an infection or anything I'm just pointing out the facts to make you better aware of knowing who is piercing you and that there equipment is sterile.

Well it stings more than a regular piercing, I'll tell you that. But after a few seconds you can't feel it. I used to have mine done, then I took it out and it closed up, I just got it redone about 2-3 months ago. I was also just able to change it like a week or two ago.

Just remember to clean it EVERY night, I didn't, still don't, and it gets all gooky (I don't know the word for it) and it's sore. Also, don't choose a HUGE earing or one too small. I had a huge earing up there this time because last time one of my cartilidge piercings got really infected because I never cleaned it, I hade a really small earing up there, and it ended up getting stuck in my ear. This time, I got a HUGE like "gangtsa" earing, and it rubbed up against my ear too much causing it to become sore. So get a normal sized earing and clean it EVERY morning and every night. Also, when you shower, try not to get your hair tangled in it, it's somewhat painful and it's a pain to untangle.

Anything else, feel free to ask!

Hey i have both of my cartliage done....there's nothing to do really just stay still.... ifyou dont know they put alchohal on your ear does not hurt.....don't get alarmed when she use's the marker to mark where it is going...then you look at the mark and say yess no if she has it in the right spot...well any ways they bring the gun out and when you get it pierced it is going to sting for the 1 second she does it....then after wards your going yo feel a tight pressure but it goes away.....it hurts but not longer then a minute...make sure you clean it and when you get the perceing dissinfector use it and twist your earng :) But it's worth it cartilege piercings look so hott....So Goof luck

yeah it hurts, depending on your level of pain tolerance. but yeah, its better to get it done with a needle, instead of a gun at claires or someplace like that. good luck!

Notso answered Friday April 7 2006, 3:08 am:
I really hope you aren't getting it done with a gun. They increase the risk of infection because they can't be properly cleaned, and it hurts more, because of the pressure from the gun "popping" through your ear.

I've had my ears done three times, my lip and my cartilage, and to be honest the cartilage was the most painful by far, because I had it done with a gun. Sleeping on it and doing your hair also tends to irritate it.

To decrease the pain get it done properly with a needle in a piercing/tattoo parlor, or if you really have to get it done with a gun take an asprin before to reduce the pain and swelling. Keep up on your aftercare, and don't touch or play with it too much or it will get irritated/infected.
