the end of split ends?

Question Posted Sunday March 12 2006, 10:15 am

In between haircuts I often cut my own split ends off. Like if I happen to see one I'll just grab a pair of scissors and cut it off. Is this bad? All my friends tell me I shouldn't do this, butI thought cutting them off was a good thing.

It's actually a GOOD thing to do that, but it may not be such a good idea with regular scissors. That may make your hair more prone to split ends. One of my friends never goes to a hairdresser and cuts her own hair. She has a pair of haircutting scissors. I think that if you're going to be cutting off your split ends yourself, you should invest in a pair of haircutting scissors. My guess is that you can get them someplace like WalMart, but if not, just ask your hairdresser where you'd be able to get them and how much they would cost. I don't think it will be very much. Good luck!

well it is such a myth the more you cut your hair the faster it grows. every six weeks a trim will keep your hair healthy. and if you are going to put heat on it then use some type of hair serum. <33

Cutting them is fine but you should try a razor. Anyways, have you ever heard about the spray called Ion? Well, you can get it at Sally's Beauty .. whatever it's called and it's for heat protection and it doesn't damage your hair. Spray it in after you blow dry your hair or anything and it prevents split ends. It's not expensive.. just like 6 bucks.

its okay, to do its not good or bad.
I'd just get a trim every month personally if it bothers you.

It's fine to do that, I do this to because I hate spilt ends. If you want, you could go to the hairdresser at least once a month for a trim; it'll help with the spilt ends and you won't get them as often. ♥

Cutting them off with scissors is fine. What you don't want to do, and shouldn't, is pull the split end apart or pull one end off.

It's good to cut them off,but not yourself. Everyone is going to have split ends in between haircuts. If it really bugs you that much. Get haircuts more often.
