Hey, Im 13 and a female. I would like to start tanning because I am very white/pale. She says that 13 is too young to start tanning and that I should wait until I am 16. I really dont think that I would be willing to wait until I am 16. I mean come on that is 3 years! Is there anything that I can say or do to make her agree. Please dont say you should wait till your 16. Ill rate high. Molly ♥

christina answered Thursday March 2 2006, 4:44 pm: You don't have to go to the tanning bed. Get a spray on or a tan lotion that tans you. Besides, who wants that fake bake look anyways.
oneandonly345 answered Thursday March 2 2006, 2:36 pm: maybe you can talk to her about doing a spray on tan? they have some really good spary on tans.
or you can tell her that tanning beds are safe, if you wear the right cream. and it gives you a base coat so when you go out in the sun you dont burn as badly.
that's what i do. when im about to go on a trip i go to the beds and i tan, so i ahve a base coat and then when i get there i dont burn.
iiloveyou answered Wednesday March 1 2006, 10:23 pm: Considering tanning is not the safest thing for your skin, I suggest creams or lotions with bronzer in them, sold at any drugstore. These creams tan your skin gradually. By 2 days you will start to see a difference, and you just keep building it up. They make it for fair skin tones and medium and dark, so whatever your tone is, there is one right for you.
Vanity answered Wednesday March 1 2006, 9:46 pm: You really should wait. Tanning is absolutely horrible for your skin. It causes cancer and premature wrinkling among other incredibly unappealing things.
BUT your skin is your own and you can do whatever you please to it. If you are hell bent on actual tanning, at least wait until you are older (I know you didn't want to hear it) to avoid that "I swear I'm 16 even though I look 45" appearance.
Why don't you meet your mother in the middle and ask her if you can use something sunless until then? Check into whether or not any tanning locations in your area provide mystic. If not, there are a lot of products out there (to quote earlier advice I gave) that will work if you select the proper color method for your natural skin tone.
If you have very light skin and choose a deep tanner, you're going to look very unnatural and teeter dangerously close to orange. Also, make sure to wash and moisturize your skin before applying it. The color should come out just fine with no streaking. It's best though to build your color over time to avoid the orange/streaked look. [ Vanity's advice column | Ask Vanity A Question ]

MaNdASzHElP247 answered Wednesday March 1 2006, 7:20 pm: Your mom says your too young? To be honest... no one wanted me to tan either, i eventually convinced my mom into letting me. Now she makes me tan cause she says i look good. Try like on your next vacation.. tell her you wanna tan and just try it out, just that one time. and see if it works. If not then you can get the spray stuff at longs or walgreens rite aid. idk any of those. They work good as long as there not the totally cheapy brands. Good luck (: [ MaNdASzHElP247's advice column | Ask MaNdASzHElP247 A Question ]
orphans answered Wednesday March 1 2006, 6:39 pm: you cant be too young to tan honey. but if you overtan, youll get skin cancer (or possibly). you dont necessarily have to tan, you can be swimming, and you can get tan [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
sshelbyy answered Wednesday March 1 2006, 5:47 pm: Tanning in the beds is extremely unhealthy for you. So unless you want to get skin cancer, i'd do MYSTIC TANNING :] . I'm 15 and i just got my first mystic tan 2 weeks ago and it was really easy and took 5 minutes and only cost 14 dollars. I would look up tanning places that do that in your area. I went to TAN ETC, so maybe there is one of those where you live. [ sshelbyy's advice column | Ask sshelbyy A Question ]
