hey! okay, i'm 15/f and i'm allowed to get my belly button pierced after our last cheerleading competition, which is around march 13. but, we are going to mexico for spring break on march 24, and i don't know if i should get it done before spring break or not. i want it when i'm laying on the beach and stuff but will the water in mexico and all the chlorine be bad for it? i don't know if i should get it done before or after mexico. any ideas? any info on belly button piercing would be great too!

Im in mexico right now. And i got my belly button pierced today. The guy said the salt water in the ocean is good for the piercing. He didnt say anything about the chlorine in the pool though. Im staying out of the pool tomorrow but im gona go back in a few days. Im sure its not harmful. Also the guy said i didnt need to do anything for the piercing because it irritates it. The only thing was to move it .
around sometimes and if it starts to get red or hurt then put neosporin on it.
Its all so worth it because they look adorable in the end.

It might burn if its still healing but it definetely wont hurt it any. Basically its practically perfect to get it pierced around that time because when you have your belly pierced it gets infected when skin rubs up against it, some of the time. Which is why its a bad idea to get it pierced in the winter. Its deff. a seasonal piercing. I would get it pierced when you want too, but be careful with it when putting or taking clothes off. I'd, for the most part, wear a bathing suit so air can get it. Just make sure to clean it twice a day and go in the water if you want, and it should be fine =D [ VainTaraLynn's advice column | Ask VainTaraLynn A Question ]
4evaurs_21 answered Thursday February 23 2006, 4:36 pm: hey, the chlorine and salt water will help the healing process but you need to keep in mind (if you get it pierced before you leave) that if it gets infected it'll be uncomfortable and maybe even ruin your trip. i would say wait on the piercing until you get back, just in case something like infection occurs... my belly piercing got infected and it felt really uncomfortable but i took car of it, i used the stuff/cleaning product and used it everyday and since then, its been fine. so make sure you clean it everyday for awhile until you think it doesnt need it anymore.
also, on belly button piercings, it doesnt hurt at all, i got my tongue pierced as well and that hurt more than the belly button and my tongue piercing only hurt when the guy screwed the top ball on the bar. so you have nothing to worry about for pain...
DancinCutie08 answered Thursday February 23 2006, 3:05 pm: i would say wait.. its not really bad for it but its def gonna burn and be painful to you. i would wait till after you get it none because you can trust mexicos water on it anyway.. it will greater your risk of infection [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]

Kr4z3y_Ch3lly answered Wednesday February 22 2006, 6:32 am: um i just read someones answer and they said there will be bruising..
well dont worry there wont be any.
i got mine done.
but i deffinatly dont think you should get it before you go.
itll be sore and if your doing all that fun stuff itll just irritate it and itll take longer to heal and might even get infected.
so just wait!
good luck. :]
luckybutt32 answered Wednesday February 22 2006, 1:06 am: yes it is bad for it they advise you to stay outta the sun because it can cause improper healing and scarring. as for the clorine i dont really know about that but yes the sun is bad for it. Vanity answered Tuesday February 21 2006, 11:41 pm: Get it done after. That type of piercing takes awhile to heal but the chlorine will not irritate it. [ Vanity's advice column | Ask Vanity A Question ]
russianspy1234 answered Tuesday February 21 2006, 11:27 pm: id(well not I but you get the idea) would get it done afterwards, just in case something goes wrong, like an infection. its alot easier to get help here than in mexico. [ russianspy1234's advice column | Ask russianspy1234 A Question ]
