Whats to do on the internet?

Question Posted Monday February 13 2006, 9:04 am

Ever since my parents have said no games and no music the internet is boring. Starting my own website is boring. The only thing I can do online that I know of is update my blog so what can people do online besides gaming, chatting, and listening to music?

Read the onion. forums, look at art, catch up on the news, learn about obscure subcultures. The sky is the limit.

More links on the webcomics angle. I figure you could spend a while going through the archives of these. Also, there's media community websites like deviantart and elfwood if you're into that sort of thing.

One of the better known webcomics. Kind of a blend of a Japanese romance comic and a gaming comic.
Type: pseudo-manga; some humor.

A not-so-well-known comic. Very quality, although the art is a little nonstandard (but in a good way). Contains nudity. Set in a sort of alternate reality.
Type: serious.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Not exceptional, but I love the author character.
Type: Kinda wierd.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
A long-running comic, very notable for the improvement in its' art over time.
Type: mostly serious.

Another long-running comic. Set in a fantasy midival setting.
Type: serious.

The one. The only.
Type: humor.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Not usually horribly funny, but the art is great and they like Macs.
Type: Sort of humorish.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Pretty funny. Set in an early-console-rpg world.
Type: humor.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
A Miracle of Science. Very good. Art becomes color after the first chapter.
Type: Not-quite-serious, with occasional quite good humor.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Futuristic sci-fi humor. A band of mercenaries experiences wacky hijinks. Updated daily.
Type: humor.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
A gaming comic. Pretty funny.
Type: humor.

Pseudo-serious in a funny way. Very good.
Type: hard to define, exactly.

Thief answered Monday February 13 2006, 8:48 pm:
well, depending on how you look at it, this could be a good oportunity. If you have photo shop then the days will become minutes. Beleive me photoshop could pass the time, it can be a lil boreing but i guess in a situation like this you kinda have to use what you have. If not enough funds on the photo shop then you could always take up drawing, sketching, make youre own comic or something. There's also MMORPG's like Ragnarok online, that shits addicting, but you havta pay to play after the 15 day trial. Hope this helps

Webcomics are pretty entertaining sometimes. And this is coming from someone who isn't a comic book person. ;-)

Here is a good place to start:

And if you like humorous sci-fi, this is a good comic:

and this one too:

Heartwhisper answered Monday February 13 2006, 12:59 pm:
Well..... go here:

jigzone.com

craigslist.org

fotolog.com

I find them rather interesting, esp the last one as there are people from all over the world there who put of photos of their own countries and cities. So you can see and learn a whole bunch. Mine from the Oregon coast are at fotolog.com/salanda. There were only 35,500 people when I started there and now there are 2 1/2 million people! You can start your own page for free and upload one photo a day for free.

Hope this helps a little, oh and you can play certain tv gameshows online... I play wheel of fortune each day to see if I can solve the final puzzle before the contestants do.... you earn point and can use them later....

Again there are many things to do online.... you just have to search a bit and explore!!!

Good luck and don't give up!

Myspace. It's kind of your own website, but it's definitely NOT boring. It's addicting & fun. You can add your own style, and you can design it anyway you want. For layouts go to:

& myspace is:
