I got an offer to start babysitting but I have a probllem. Its really stupid but, Ive seen the commercials to "When A Stranger Calls" the new horror movie about the girl babysitting. Im afraid that when I babysit a) IT WILL HAPPEN.. or b) Ill be too freaked out and the kids will get scared, or I wont be able to take care of them because Im too scared. It will also be my FIRST time babysitting. What can i do to make myself feel safer?!

Honestly, once you start babysitting, you won`t even think about the movie. Just relax & if it`s okay with the owner of the house, ask if you can just have a friend over. But I highly doubt they will let you because they hired YOU not your friend also. Anyways, once you get in the house, do something to get your mind off of the movie. Remember, the movie is sooo fake! So don`t worry about it that much. =) [ KiSSxMYxPEARLS's advice column | Ask KiSSxMYxPEARLS A Question ]

Well if someone calls and says all that stuff then do *69,or ask a friend to stay and help you cause its alot easier to do something with a friend then by yourself [ luvme_hateme190's advice column | Ask luvme_hateme190 A Question ]
MikeCFT answered Thursday January 26 2006, 9:19 pm: 1.) That movie isnt new, its a remake of the original made in 1979 with Carol Kane (Basically it like all modern horror killer movies is a bite off of 1978's Halloween) It is based on nothing but another movie (Halloween) that is also just fiction. They say its based on a true legend to scare you and come see the movie. I had to throw that in lol
2.) Its just a movie and that stuff doesn't happen that often if at all. Most crime that occurs with a house such as burglary and break ins occur in the daytime when no one is home. Most murderers already know their victims when they kill them. It's just Hollywood fulfilling their whole idea of planting the thought in your head from their movie
3.) To make yourself feel safer, keep everything outside well lit, all doors and windows locked and if there is a home security system, turn it on. Keep your phone near you at all times. Don't worry, you'll be fine lol [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]
tasuki answered Thursday January 26 2006, 8:54 pm: The chances of that happening are really rare. But even if you are freaked out, you need to put on a tough face because you are supposed to be responsible. I'm assuming that this is during nighttime. Lock all the doors and do not let anybody in. If it is the parents, they will have a key. Be safe over the phone, too. Don't mention to anybody that you're the babysitter, just say that ____ is unable to come to the phone and take a message. When we see scary things, it can take a while for it to sink in that it's not reality--even if we know that logically. Just keep repeating it to yourself and from now on watch cartoons about happy rainbow ponies or something. Hollywood is trying to sell people's souls; ignore it. When commercials like that come on, mute or turn off the TV. Trust me, you won't be too scared. When you're the only adult with a bunch of kids, your instincts sort of kick in. You'll be able to handle it. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
iiloveyou answered Thursday January 26 2006, 8:10 pm: just keep telling yourself that it's just a movie, and that wouldnt happen in real life . if an emergency happened, you should know the numbers to call but it is unlikely . remember : its not real life and only a movie !! dont be scared attt alllllll . nothing will go wrong =)

MikeDaBoobNinja answered Thursday January 26 2006, 7:17 pm: The same thing happened to me when I saw the movie Titanic. I totally thought I was going to paint a chick nude and hit an iceburg. To get over it, I just realized that it's only a movie. Hollywood can create any type of senario they want, especially when it plays off your fears. Just remember that that movie NEVER happened. (except for the Titanic thing, that did happen)
