When someone says "Word" they are replacing "Yes," "Sure," or "I agree." I'm using the names "Amy," "Leah," "Holli" and "Jake" in my examples.

[Amy] : Jake is hot.
[Leah] : Word.

[Holli] : Amy has a cute jacket.
[Leah] : Word.

[Jake] : Want to come to the movies tonight?
[Leah] : Word.

[Amy] : Jake is a great guitar player.
[Holli] : Word.

You get the idea. 'Word' is the response, replacing 'Yes,' 'Sure,' or 'I agree.'

It usually means yes, or I agree.

Dude, want to go to the movies today? Word. (yeah sure)

Man, that guy was HOT! Word (heck yeah he was)

You can say word to lots of things, but yeah, do those two examples help you any. You find out the way they mean it by the question or statement before hand.

You're probably white, you don't need to know what it means. You shouldn't be using it, you're not expected to know it, you'll just complicate things by knowing about it. Don't worry about it.

MummuM answered Sunday December 11 2005, 10:33 pm:
It's when you agree with something. Instead of saying "yes", you say "word". ♥

If someone agrees with something, they'll usually respond with "word." They are replacing "yes," basically.

Like, when someone agrees with something they just say "word" It's that stoned surfer talk. But it's just instead of saying yeah, you can say word.

word exclamation 1. an affirmation of agreement. (Question: "I'm going to the movies tonight, dawg - you want to go?" Response: "Word!") Submitted by Slink, FL, USA, 02-04-1998. 2. When used as a question, equivalent to "Are you serious?" ("Statement: "I met Michael Jackson!" Response: "Word?"

Its basically a slang word to mean "agree"
Word* Peace Out
