Mathilde’s Character analysis
I enjoyed The Necklace, by Guy de Maupassant very much, because of the way he described the main character. The way that he wrote about Mathilde, it seemed as though she existed. In my mind she was a sparkling and shimmering blob of bright colors and laughter. Mathilde is a pretty and charming girl who had little money, and less hope. Mme. Loisel lives in a moderate apartment, and she feels that she needs better. These factors make her extremely ungrateful, shallow, and very imaginative of a better life. Mathilde had married a middle class man named Mr. Loisel. He had very little money, only earning enough to buy essentials, and not the gowns and jewels Mathilde craved. Mr. Loisel did his best to buy all the essentials, but never less, Mathilde remained unsatisfied.
Mathilde is a very ungrateful woman whose husband, clothes, and surroundings never meet up to her expectations. In the short story, it specifically stated that ‘The walls were dirty. The chairs were worn out. The curtains were ugly. All these things another young bride might not have minded at all. But not she!’ Mathilde was not grateful when her husband got an invitation to the ball. She started carrying on about how she couldn’t go because her dress wasn’t fancy enough for the ball, and how wearing flowers instead of jewels was for poor people. Mathilde did not thank her husband even once for the invitation or the money that he gave her to buy the gown. What Mathilde doesn’t understand is that there are many people worse off than her in the world, and she should feel lucky to have a place to live and a loving husband. Therefore, Mathilde is shallow as well.
Mathilde’s traits show the characteristics of being exceedingly shallow. An example of her materialistic obsession is when she complains to her husband about not having a jewel to wear to the ball. “No, I can’t wear flowers”, she sighed. “There is nothing worse than to look poor among other women who are rich.” Another example of Mathilde being shallow is declining the ball invitation because of not having a gown to wear. Mathilde doesn’t care about having fun, or enjoying herself, only about her appearance. All of these selfish actions and thoughts let us see how shallow Mathilde really is. Mathilde probably imagined wearing luxurious gowns and dazzling diamonds everyday.
The third character trait of Madame Mathilde Loisel is being imaginative. She is good at imagining grandeur furnishings and clothes. Mathilde is not satisfied with Mr. Loisel, and she dreams about what would have happened if she had married a richer and more powerful man. During long days, Mms. Loisel would doze off and dream of candlelight diners, large grand rooms, and servants. Instead off trying to improve her lifestyle, she spends her time imagining what could be, and IF. One of the scenes that she imagines is talking to her rich and powerful friends in huge rooms at five o’clock tea. Mathilde fantasizes and dreams so much that she never ends up trying to make those imaginary scenes come true. Thus, Mathilde has an overactive imagination, along with the character traits of being ungrateful and shallow.
In conclusion, Mathilde is an interesting charactor to analyze. I like Mathilde as a character, because we can’t all be perfect, and Mrs. Loisel is an example of this. She made a few mistakes and she tried to make up for them. This is what makes her such a fascinating character to study. Having the character traits of ungrateful, shallow, and imaginative, are only the outer layer of Mrs. Loisel. It would take years to fully understand this woman, because like all human beings, she is twisted and wound around the complexities of the human mind and actions.

What are some really good songs to help you hit higher notes and to help vibrato?
Wicked the broadway musical..It has a lot of high notes that are hard to hit but you can hit them if your singing the right way..thats how you can tell =) The CD is called 'Wicked' and its just a really good CD =) Also, you can try some of vanessa carltons songs or kelly clarkson..Make sure you warm up your voice before you sing anythng like that though =)

You should go to your local variety store or Grocery Store or somewhere that sells food lol They ALWAYS have a gingerbread house in-a-box.. all you have to do is put it together and decorate =) its very easy and tells you how to do everything on the back of the box

If you want to put your own background on your myspace, first you need a photobucket. so once you get a photobucket just upload the picture you want as your background onto it. Then go to www.pimpwebpage.com and then under the picture you uploaded on photobucket take the 'Tag' from your photobucket on www.photobucket.com,then go back to www.pimpwebpage.com and where it says 'Background image: Off' Make it so it says 'Background image: On' Then insert the Tag from your photobucket and put it in there.

I signed up for the school talent show. Suddenly today, I learned that it will be held at the assembly. And it's too late to drop out. I have a terrible case of stage fright. I'm singing a song from THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (Wishing You Were...), and it's going to be hard to liven up a beautiful broadway piece next to all the other singers, who are singing stuff like Ice Ice Baby and Alicia Keys. How do I relax?!
first of all, Ice Ice Baby is NOT a hard song to sing haha and you dont know how good these people are gonna be yet, so dont worry about it! Start singing infront of your parents and friends.. just perform what your gonna do at the talent show for them! Once your comfortable performing infront of parents/siblings/friends etc. You'll be fine!

I haven't started my period, but wanna ask 2 questions for when it comes:
1) Do you bleed all the time or is it like discharge, and comes out everyonce and a while.
2) It says you supposed to stay very clean when you have it. Itake baths cause my shower doesn't work. When I take a bath would thewater get all blooding during my period.

Well when you have your period, yes, it bleeds all the time. But at one point it might not come out at all and then come back the next day or the next 5 hours.
The water wont get all bloody, it doesnt come out THAT fast =) it wont even turn a dab of red, so dont worry about that one
Oh yes, and when you get your period your gonna wanna use pads for a while but im telling you.. TAMPONS ARE SO MUCH EASIER TO USE. pads get so nasty and all over you but tampons you can just slip in and out, and if you decide to use them just down put them in TOO FAR or when you try to take it out it might hurt a little =)

What are some good ways to let me boyfriend down gently? I'm not into him as much as I used to be and we're just not working out. He never calls me and he never really talks to me. We've been one of those couples that looks so cute from the outside but there's nothing on the inside. I just need a way to break up with him without the old "we're better off as friends" excuse or something cheesy like that. He's a nice guy and he's really cool but he's not the dude for me. Thanks :)
I would just tell him that you dont like him as you used to and its not his fault its just the way it is. You cant really blame a person for falling out of love, it just happens. Hes apparently not the one for you if you dont like him anymore, and he wouldnt want you to lead him on would he? If he still likes you theres really no way that you can put him down gently. Hes gonna take it hard as anybody would, but he WILL get over it so try not to feel too bad

I don't know if this is teenagers all around of if it's just my high school but it seems that they have just forgotten (or not taught) what manners are!
I see so many kids in school being rude everyday it's crazy.
Today I saw a teacher walking with allot of things in her hand and this guys in front of her opened the door for him and then just shut it in her face.
I've seen people kick books that others drop, turn around and bitch someone out just because the person accidentally ran into them, yesterday I even saw that a guy had dropped his text book and a girl that was walking tripped over it and fell on the ground and he didn't even say anything to her, just picked up his book and walked off. Just mean things like that.
Have kids always been this rude?
Well i'm very sorry to say but some peopl are just jerks. Not ALL schools are like this though, I know I would NEVER shut the door on a teachers face. Maybe their parents just didnt teach them or were ignored in that sense. Theres nothing to really do about it, just dont get influenced by it.

My parents have been telling me Santa Claus is real..I mean I am trying to believe but my parents have given off to MANY clues. I asked my mom the other day and she gave me the whole pep talk. Is Santa Claus real or is it his "helpers" who live w/ me?

Our highschool is having auditions for "The Music Man" Tomorrow night around 6. I need a song to sing...I really can't think of and good/semi It can me with or without music. My voice talents are limited, but they are there, so any suggestions would be marvelous!

Well I must say, that is ADORABLE =) I think if you want to go out with her the first step would be DUH! tell her you like her. Its alright if your shy, maybe you can do it over the phone or over the internet.. either one.. or even in person =) Just tell her, get it off your chest, then she'll probably tell you she likes you. hunny, im really sorry but this guy is a jerk with a needle dick. You can do much better.
But if you really want to catch his attention stop talking to him and stop following him and looking at him and crap. Dont even acknowledge his existance and totally forget about him. Then after a month or two he'll feel bad after he gets DUMPED by jenna or whatever and he'll come back to you. And even if he does, dont acknowledge him, hes just a jerk and a half =) If you stops being such an ARS then try to be his friend, it'll probably be better that way..And I know it seems like your in love but it wont take that long to get over him. I only have one thing to say about it.. jerk. Once you get over him you'll be so releived believe me =)

I have really curly hair so I straighten it twice a week just about. Is that really bad for my hair. Like i know that its bad to straighten your hair but how bad is that?? I have some straightening stuff thats my sisters that i use before i do it i guess it supposed to help...

well my x boyfriend loves to talk a lot of crap about me and laughs when i get hurt but some of his friends tell me he still likes me but i do not know whato think please help me sincerly confuse!
Even if he does still like you, he's a jerk and he's not worth your time..Dude, you could do so much better than some kid who makes fun of you. Find someone who will actually care about you and forget about your X. He'll probably come crawling back to you when hes noticed you stopped caring, but just ignore it because once he regains your attention he'll just go back to being himself.

many talented singers take voice lessons to improve their already decent voice. however, do people who don't have a good voice at all ever take voice lessons? would this help improve a voice at all. I am not just saying this, I really do not have a good voice, I can't hit any notes or stay in tune. I know you are probably thinking "I am sure her vpice is OK, but honestly it is not one of my strong points. I know I have other strengths and talents, but I am basically an awful singer. I am not looking to be transformed into an amazing famous singer or anything, but I would like to have a decent voice so I am not embaressed to sing out loud! Do you know anyone like me that has ever taken voice lessons? Would they at all help someone who has vritually no singing talent? Is it worth it, and would it improve me a little? Or do voice teachers expect only to work with people who are already okay at singing? I would also be embaressed to go to a professional...someone who can sing so well! Any comments or advice? Thank You!
Voice teachers dont only expect to work with people who already have pretty nice voices..I have a voice teacher and ive seen some of her other students and MAN they could use some work =) Dont be nervous, and dont feel like your in the way..If you want to take voice lessons, you should, The voice teacher will be happy shes gettin your money lol in exchange for the voice lessons ofcourse =)
