God

Question Posted Saturday December 10 2005, 1:16 pm

Yesterday i just put god in my heart, because my life was going bad and i was doing alot of bad thigns that i shouldn't have been doing. and i'm going to follow the path god wants me to now and do what i think he thinks his right. And i was just wondering if there was anybody out there who could give me some pointers on what to do and not to do because i am new at this. And could you please name some christian bands cause i used to lisen to metal and i dont' want to anymore because i think it would go against god because of the stuff they say i dotn'w ant to lisen to any more hate singers anymore. Please help i'll rate 5's for good anwsers.

I know this is an old question, but I wanted to offer my two cents worth anyway.

Metal doesn't really go against God. Some bands which sing / play metal may go against God, but metal itself does not.

Great Christian bands :

Pop / Contemporary :
- NewSong
- Natalie Grant
- 4Him
- FFH [Far From Home]
- Big Daddy Weave
- Avalon
- Jeremy Camp
- Casting Crowns
- Steven Curtis Chapman
- Bethany Dillon
- Sara Groves
- Jump5
- Shawn McDonald
- MercyMe
- Bebo Norman
- Plus One
- Point Of Grace
- Chris Rice
- Salvador
- Matthew West
- Joy Williams
- Building429

Punk / Rock /[includes classic rock]:
- 7Thunders
- Relient K
- Beggars Fortune
- John Michael Talbot
- Kutless
- Thousand Foot Krutch
- Todd Agnew
- Audio Adrenaline
- Barlow Girl
- Day Of Fire
- Hawk Nelson
- Jars Of Clay
- Newsboys
- Larry Norman
- Sanctus Real
- Sixpence None The Richer
- Switchfoot
- Third Day

Hip Hop / Rap :
- Superchic[k]
- The Ambassador
- Apocalypze
- KJ-52
- CHRISTyle
- John Reuben
- Lingo
- Manafest

Ska :
- OC Supertones
- Nifty Tom 50
- Five Iron Frenzy
- Israelites
- Insyders

Metal / Hard Rock :
- Underoath
- Becoming the Archetype
- Narnia
- POD [Payable On Death]
- Pillar
- Dizmas
- Kids In The Way
- 12 Stones
- Haste the Day
- Acoustic War Against Satan
- Demon Hunter
- Sacred Warrior
- Disciple

These lists are no where near complete, but maybe... even though they're late... help (or be at least half amusing).

I, personally, listen to Kids In The Way, The Dizmas, Underoath, Skillet, Pillar, Superchic[k], The OC Supertones, and some Relient k.

God bless you.

Volunteering with homeless

If your school has a special ed program, volunteer. You wouldn't believe how awesome those people are. That's what I do.

Make sure to stand up for others as well as treatothers as you would want to be treated. (personal biggy)

I've recently started trying to be more Christian as well.

If you want to you can still listen to 'metal' try bands like Creed, POD, Alter Bridge, and even slightly older bands like The Res Band or Stryper.

God confuses me too much - so I'm what some might call "agnostic" and absolutely no help to the bulk of your question.

But being a fan of Metal myself - Christian bands you should definently check out are:

Demon Hunter
UnderOATH (More their first CD than their second CD, its called "The Changing Of Times")
Ra

And there's a list of christian bands somewhere on this website: www.teenhopeline.com

That website is a Christian site that has representatives that will talk to you one on one over the computer, daily email bible lessons, and other things that might help you on the road to becoming a Christian.

Deciding to follow God doesn't mean you should change who you are and everything that you do. I think that if you want to change you should do it slowly. Remember though, you don't have to! Nobody's perfect, so there's no point in pretending that you are. Any sins that you committ can be forgiven. Listen to the music that you like no matter what it is, but if you want to find inspiration in Christian music or you find that you like it, that's great. The best way to find popular Christian bands is to listen to a Christian radio station. I don't know of any Christian bands myself, even though I am Christian, but I do listen to the radio station sometimes. When you're writing, the word God should be capitalized. When you're referring to God you need to capitalize the words He and Him too. My advice to you is to find a local minister to talk to about Christianity. He or she will be able to help you find the path that God wants you to take. I wish you the best of luck! <3

If that is what you want to do, then go to a church and seek out a priest/preacher/rabbi/holy man of your choice. Whom ever it is, they will sit with you and talk to you and try to help you. It is their job.

But, just keep in mind that you can lead a good life and be a good person without a belief in God or affiliation with any certain religion. All it takes is a want to be a decent human. Sounds to me like you have that already.

I believe the best way to follow 'God' is just by being true to yourself and doing what you think is right. Listening to your own heart. God gave you a mind of your own, he lets you think for yourself and gives you the power to make your own life and descisions. I think doing what you think is best is maybe the best way to follow God, though a lot may disagree with me.

As long as you have him in your heart and you believe in everything - as far as religion, God, ect. Then you're set.

On a side note I know a lot of people who are very deep in the Christian faith and try following it to the point where they end up depressed becuase they've become afraid of their actions being thought of as sin and whatever have you. I'm not trying to knock the religion, I think it's great if you have something that you believe in like that.

Just try not taking it to like a high level to where you've quit doing what you want in life and started living a life that a book says is right, or that other people say is right. Like I said, God gave you a soul, he gave you a heart, he gave you a brain. You're allowed to live for yourself.

shake answered Saturday December 10 2005, 1:31 pm:
Christian bands generally dont talk a lot about god and jesus in their music. It just lacks what all other bands have which is sexual content, language, etc.

You also said you want god to guide you, now if you're asking us for help, does that mean we're your god?

Look, I dont know how to 'properly' guide you because you'll view me and my helping you a little lacking in the credibility area, mainly because I'm Agnostic and Atheist on and off.

I try to view things as real as possible and not get into all that other stuff. I'd be glad to help, if you want a realistic view on things; you probably dont want it, though. If you do, just view my site for contact info.
