best kind of pet? ok what is the best kind of pet for a starting out couple who just moved in together and are planning on getting married? my fiance works days and i do too. we get home typically him at 5 me at 3. and we leave in the mornings at like 6. we both love all kinds of animals, and want to get a pet to share our lives with since we are not ready for kids yet. what kind of pet would be the best pet to get. we are not allergic to anything and if you are just going to say "cat" or "dog" please specify a breed and why so that we can be educated about it before we make our desicion. thank you so much and i promise to rate every answer i get!

a female puppy pug b/c they are so sweet and dont need a lot of taking care when big hope i helped ]
well i would get a cat because while you are at work you don't have to worry about taking a dog out to the bathroom and a cat is litter boxed trained so you don't have to worry about the dog using the bathroom on the floor...the only problem with a cat is it's claws but, you can get a cat that has been declawed or you can get it declawed to...good luck

I think a cat would be better for you.
Dogs tend to not like to be left alone for long hours. They need to go out and use the bathroom often, and if left unattended, can get into trouble.
Cats are generally easier. Leave out a litter box and some food, and they'll be fine. They prefer long hours alone :)
With cats, it's hard to tell the precise breed. Just go to the shelter, find a cat you like. ]
I would go for a parrot 'cause if you get lonely it will talk to you and sing to you if your sad. ]
um snakes our nice, simply because they dont require much. corn snakes are possibly one of the best for pets. or fish.. but cleaning the tank is a pain sometimes, and i think any reptile would be good for you now, because they dont need as much requirements such as for an example a dog would. so for the busy couple.. something that doesnt require a lot, yet you two can still hold and love and play with would be nice. ]
Oh! I have 3 Goldens and they are wonderful! Very low taimed, but playful when you want it to be! I recomend that when you leave to put it in a certain room or a cage because it helps with training it. If you get a puppy and it needed to be potty trained then I would definatly put it in a cage because a puppy will not pee where it lays or sleep! Make since? Well I would definatly recomend a Golden! Hope all is well!

puppy, def a puppy ]
ok the best type of pet to start with is a puppy.
a great starter pup is a crocer spaniell they are medium size. they don't get to big. they can be walked easily.they are really friendly. and if you don't want a dog start out with something small like a turtle. they are so cute the red earred slider turtles.
good luk ]
a pet im best at this subject..lol i say a fish, best thing about them is they dont need much caring! You and your fiance can clean the fish bowl together sit there and watch the fish swim around in the bowl... and umm plus cats and dogs are a pain in the royal ass.. hope i helped! ]
Definitely go with a cat. Dogs are like babies, they require too much care and too many walks. Cats however, mind their own business and go off to be isolated in their own special place. I have three Tiger-stripe shorthair cats and one shorthair calico. There are long haired cats (longer fur) and short haired cats so if you think you can deal with the shedding of cats, keeping their litterboxes clean, feeding it, and taking it to the vet for check ups, then a cat is right for you. You might also want to buy a few cat books or google Cat care or Cat breeds for some more information.
I sugguest you adopt an older, more laid back cat since kittens are VERY hard to care for and you need ALOT of time to take care of a kitten. Try your local animal shelters or check out this website:

Cats are the way to go, in my opinion. =) Even as kittens they can be left alone during the day. (Bathrooms are usually the best place to keep them when they're young.) As long as you leave them with food, water, and a litter box they pretty much take care of themselves. Short hair might be better for you and your husband though, since longhaired cats take a lot of extra care to keep their fur healthy and clean. ]
Dont get Terries, they shit on your carpet.
Dont get Shitzus they smell like shit and so will your house after purchasing one.
Matter of fact, dont get any dog.
Dont get a Cat. They shed everywhere, scratch up your furniture, and your walls.
You know what, dont get any of that stuff.
Get a Platapus, those own. ]
I would have to say a cat. A cat would be perfect because there not to much to deal with, you can leave them for a while, and there lovable and cute. Hope I helped and good luck. ]
I'm sorry that I can't tell you a breed... but I think that a cat would be the best pet for you. Cats are low - mantenance and don't need attention 24/7, they can take care of themselves when you can't. However, if you are up for more of a challenge, you could settle with a dog - I have a beagle who sleeps all day until I get back from school, however if she can't get outside to do her buisness, she'll go on the carpet like any other dog. A dog would require a dog - door - which will require money and if you ever decide that the dog doesn't work for you, there'll be a hole in your door forever, whereas with a cat, you can crack a window large enough for them to slink through - this is what my friend does. Again, I'm sorry I couldn't give you a specific cat breed, but I hope that I helped!!! ]
ok well just starting out...i would say a dog...a good calm and very good looking dog is a bernease mountain dog...but they are a little pricey...another good dog is a golden retriver...but for any bigger animal such as a dog or cat or anything you are going to have a little time to train it.. so maybe a bigger pet wouldn't be such a good idea maybe start out with like fish and move up higher?!? i hope you like the advice.. ]
