Question Posted Wednesday September 21 2005, 12:21 am
I usually dont eat much. I eat maybe one small thing for breakfast and half of my lunch. I usually dont eat dinner. I usually exercise everything off if I eat a huge lunch or a huge dinner. I constantly worry about how much i weigh but im too scared to weigh myself cause im scared of the effect itll have on me. I usually exercise regularly. I run a mile a day, 30 pushups, 5 minute wall sit, and tons of other things. I'm also involved in Cheerleading so that kind of also is an excuse for me to exercise more often and burn off any fat. Ive been getting sick easier lately and idk why ive been sick for like 2 weeks now. Am i anorexic or what?
Oh also ive noticed my legs are smaller and so are my arms.. and ive noticed other things but i need oppinions i rate 5s. kthanxbye!
In my opinion, I'd have to say yes, you most likely are. Do you even know WHY you're so obsessed with your weight? You really shouldn't worry about what other think of you, because anorexia is EXTREMELY unhealthy! People have actually DIED from it. No offence, but you might want to tell a parrent about this so you can get some help. Good luck! [ xGrApEyGrLx's advice column | Ask xGrApEyGrLx A Question ]

rikatree2375 answered Wednesday September 21 2005, 11:18 pm: Take it from a person who's been there, done that. Sounds like anorexia to me. The fact that you're scared to weigh yourself is what worries me. I knew with anorexia that i became obsessed with the scale and had to know what i weighed every morning but i was also afraid of it. I think the first step is really acknowleding that you have a problem. Since you're actually worried about it then you can get better soon. Try keeping up like a schedule of what you eat. Like tell yourself that you're going to eat this much for breakfast, lunch and dinner and stick with that no matter if you dont feel like eating. I think over time you'll find yourself eating normal. Don't worry about the exercise because that's good for you but try not to loose too much weight. Keep things healthy and you'll be fine. Don't stress either because that only makes things worse. Hope i helped and EAT!!! :)
PiNkKiss43 answered Wednesday September 21 2005, 4:50 pm: I just learned about this in the past few days. You NEED and I mean NEED to eat....now. As a matter of fact, this is true, scientists have tested and people who eat breakfast (or at mid morning if you get sick from eating breakfast that early) are likely to be more skinnier than people who don't. I know it doesn't make sense but you have to eat to get skinny. Let me explain. If you don't eat or skip meals your body thinks you are in a life or death situation so it saves all the fat and energy you have. So eat regularly just avoid eating alot of junk food or saturated fat. Also you have to excercise. You HAVE to eat. A car won't run without any gas in it right? Your body is going to slowly shut down if you don't put food in it. Oh and yes those are signs to anorexia. Anorexia can lead to fatigue, fainting, hospitalized with heart attacks, sharp pains, and even death. And if you don't think those affects will happen to you, they will if you keep this up. So do us all a favor and go eat something. Hope I helped. PiNkKisS43 [ PiNkKiss43's advice column | Ask PiNkKiss43 A Question ]
not_your_star34 answered Wednesday September 21 2005, 4:04 pm: It depends. Does that small amount of food keep you full, or are you starving yourself (keeping yourself from eating a big breakfast & lunch and not eating dinner)?
If you're full and you SERIOUSLY don't need to eat much to stay full, then you're probably okay.
BUT, if you're keeping yourself from eating large amounts, then you're getting pretty close to having anorexia.
From what you said about being more sick lately, I'm guessing that you're starving yourself.
If your body is deprived of food, then you'll have less energy. Your body needs energy to do everyday things, and to fight off illess. That's probably why you've been sick lately.
You seem to be overdoing the exercise, especially considering the little food you're eating. You're probably really tired after the exercises; am I right? Your body needs energy to exercise, too.
You eat when you're hungry, and stop when you're full. You shouldn't have any weight problems if you do that.
If you're starving yourself and it's out of control, please, PLEASE tell a parent or guardian so they can help you!
ComplicatedParadise answered Wednesday September 21 2005, 11:11 am: I think if you don't stop this behavior now you could be on the road to anorexia. You do have some of the symptoms of anorexia nervosa. For a doctor to diagnose anorexia nervosa there has to be physical symptoms of it, the biggest one is dramatic weight loss, amnorehha(loss of period), ireegular heartbeat, etc etc, there is alot more. But what your describing is just getting deeper and deeper in, and everyday you let it pass it just gets worse. Trust me, I have dealt with anorexia before and have been treated. The best thing to do is talk to someone about it, don't be ashamed. You could have soe sort of chemical imbalance in your brain, an eating disorder is usually never purposely brought on by the person, it is triggered, but something in the brain is usually the case. Also people who tell you anorexics dont eat, they are wrong. Anorexics do eat, the just eat very very little, and then they will do anything in their power to exercise it off or they might try another method of keeping it off such as laxatives. Anorexia isnt about just starvation, its about your body image and how you make yourself feel inside. Anorexia is a form of self-mutilation, and you can die from this. Your worth more than what you might think your worth. You weight isn't half of what makes you you. I want you to be safe, please get help before it's too late, I know how it feels to be trapped under the disease. Courtney answered Wednesday September 21 2005, 8:15 am: I don't think that you're anorexic but I think that you're seriously on the path of becoming one. You're showing developing symptoms of becoming one. For one, you're obsessed with losing weight and that's alright until you're absolutely 150% obsessing about it. You're getting sick which is calling your immune system and the white blood cells within you're body to weaken because they're not getting the proper nutrients, minerals, and vitamins that they need. They need to get this from food. You're making yourself really vulnerable to getting really and seriously sick and weight isn't worth all that. If you're really obsessive and addicted to losing weight, then you really should go to someone for help. If you're not that obsessive, force yourself to eat more and work a minimum amount of exercise a day. This is very serious and please, do not take this lightly.
