Question Posted Friday September 16 2005, 10:10 pm
Well for about 2 weeks so far I've been skipping breakfast and lunch and only eating a snack and dinner. My wrists are really skinny but my moms are 2.And my friends are really worried about me.They're always trying to shove food down my throat. What could happen to me if I keep eating this way?
piinkiie answered Sunday October 2 2005, 7:15 pm: Well, first of all, wrists have nothing to do with it. I'm a bit overweight for my height and I have skinny wrists. Anyways, onto my point, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Lunch is the second most important meal of the day. I've had friends worry about me like this before, too. You might have to compromise and eat something small and healthy for breakfast and lunch just to prove that you've eaten. Believe me, all those petty excuses such as, "I ate a big breakfast" don't work. You could also follow a principle that says eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper. Basically go from big to small throughout the day. Eat either three big meals, or 5 small meals. Hope I helped.
Best of luck.

People who eat breakfast generally weigh less. Its a proven fact. I doubt that its a matter of hunger, because one snack a day isnt even enough for an ant. What your doing is affecting your health. You need food to keep your body healthy and working right. Food is like fuel..and your body is like a car. Keep it fueled up hun! [ x0Leah0x's advice column | Ask x0Leah0x A Question ]

xfashionesque answered Sunday September 18 2005, 4:49 pm: You'd lose loads of weight!
NO! Because that's not what really happens
By skipping meals your body goes into 'survival mode' which it goes into when your body is denied food when it's hungry and your metabolism slows down (your metabolism is the rate your body burns calories at) the less you eat, the more your body tries to store more and more fat. So yes, you'd lose weight eventually.
What happens when you reach your goal weight and you decide it's time to start eating again normal?
When your body recieves food normally again you gain all the weight back and 90% of the women that have tried skipping meals gained all the weight back plus MORE weight and ended up heavier than they ever were in the first place!
Also not eating enough could make your hair thinner and fall out, your nails brittle, your skin pale, cause you to faint and be dizzy among alot more side effects.
You could also fall into anorexia belive it or not. Whether or not you think ''Me, anorexic!? Never!'' anorexia is not a choice, it's a mental illness and you could fall into it without realising it so please, be careful.
So stop doing it.
If you REALLY want to lose weight you'll do it the right way and I really hope you do stop doing it before you hurt your self.

AskAndy answered Saturday September 17 2005, 3:21 pm: I'm not gonna put any of my opinion into this so i'm gonna answer this plain and simple. You will be very unhealthy and most likely will die. You NEED to start eating normally. [ AskAndy's advice column | Ask AskAndy A Question ]
IxAmxCrying answered Saturday September 17 2005, 2:03 pm: Actually, you'll become heavier. Your metabolism will become slower, and the foods you do eat will be stored much more conservatively. Sumo wrestlers actually get fat from eating very little contrary to popular belief...but I've been on this eating schedule for seven years...and honestly, if you eat nutritiously, nothing bad will happen to you. Just stay active to counteract the sumo effect. [ IxAmxCrying's advice column | Ask IxAmxCrying A Question ]
jenymca answered Saturday September 17 2005, 11:30 am: Actually, you have a better chance of getting skinnier if you eat breakfast and lunch. Not eating it can slow down you're metabolism. You'll also deprive yourself of some nutrients. I recommend eating healthy breakfasts and lunches. That way you'll still be eating. [ jenymca's advice column | Ask jenymca A Question ]

HyperactiveMiss answered Saturday September 17 2005, 2:30 am: Why are you skipping breakfast and lunch? Because you are not hungry or because you want to get skinnier?
If you're just not hungry, make yourself eat still. You won't feel like eating at first, but your stomach WILL adjust to it little by little. You can just start off by eating small meals and then grow into "normal" meals. If you're just not hungry, the case is not so bad, but it's not good either way.
If you're not going to eat two meals out of three during the day, you should at LEAST make the one meal you eat breakfast. I'm sure you've heard that a lot. It's because your body "starves" when you go to sleep. That's a long time and it needs energy in the morning for the rest of the day.
Don't be mad at your friends for being worried. It shows they care and that they are concerned... for a good reason too. Did you know if you don't eat you can develop a hole in your stomach? We all know our stomachs have some hard core acids to break down food in there. I forgot what it was exactly, but I remember a teacher saying something about the acids being able to burn a hole in the floor. What will the acids break down if there is no food? And that's where you can develop a hole in your stomach.
And as you may already know, if you don't get yourself into the habit of eating the regular meals, you will probably turn anorexic. And when you're at that point it is HARD to turn back.

lizzzz answered Friday September 16 2005, 11:43 pm: not to bring you down, but you'd probably eventually become anorexic and be very ill and sick. trust me, start eating and listening to your friends. you do not want to get anoriexia, it solves nothing and could cause you do die. trust me, i've heard many stories about this. hope i helped. MFS answered Friday September 16 2005, 10:58 pm: That is really not a very healthy thing to be doing to yourself. In fact, I highly recommend against it. Starvation is NOT a way to lose or control one's weight. It is a way to starve your body of the nutrients and fuel it needs - I'll bet you have no endurance, and if you keep this up, your sleep patterns will go to hell and you'll start getting sick all the time. Starvation can also lead to long-term heart problems, and of course death. Believe it or not, I'm not trying to be "scary" here... just telling you why not eating is a really dumb thing to do.
