LoveNJstyle answered Tuesday September 6 2005, 6:57 pm: yep it is if your not used to it! the way to help it is by stretching out after but laying on your stomanch and pushing up kinda like a triangle position. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
FunnyCide answered Tuesday September 6 2005, 6:41 pm: It's normal because your body isn't used to the workout. I do 400 crunches daily just to "feel the burn," but someone who doesn't do sit ups or crunches often will definitely be sore from a few. The sore muscles will go away soon, but to help speed the recovery, try stretching them very well and putting a heating pad on them. Take some ibuprofen if the pain is really bad. To strengthen those muscles though, you'll have to do 25 sit ups every day, then gradually increase the number. You'll be sore for a while, and probably sore each time you increase the number, but you'll feel better about yourself. :)

mn731 answered Tuesday September 6 2005, 6:29 pm: Yeah it's totally normal! It's cause your muscles don't usually do it so it's kinda new to them..haha..but just keep doing them..they're good for you and after a while, they won't be so sore anymore. [ mn731's advice column | Ask mn731 A Question ]
BlackAngel answered Tuesday September 6 2005, 6:21 pm: Yup, it's normal. The muscles just aren't used to that kind of work yet, if you keep doing them (probably in smaller sets) the muscles will get used to it and will stop being sore. Be careful doing more for the next couple days so the muscles don't get more inflamed, and taking a couple painkillers that both numb the pain and bring down the inflamation wouldn't hurt. It might not be a bad idea to do 10-15 situps every other day for a week or so, just to give the muscles time to adjust to the work out, and you can build up in quantity slowly as they get used to it.
xOhilaryOx answered Tuesday September 6 2005, 6:18 pm: hum..from what my p.e teacher says that after you do situps you should lay on the floor arms over your head and legs all they way out for like 10 seconds to strech your stomach so it doesnt get sore [ xOhilaryOx's advice column | Ask xOhilaryOx A Question ]
