Is it bad for you to use a tampon when your not actually menustrating? I am supposed to start today or tomorrow and i just don't want to get caught by suprise. Would it be harmful if i put on in while i was still clean?

jokerzgrl answered Saturday August 20 2005, 4:42 pm: It would be quite harmful. You could get all sorts of infections from that. Like a yeast infection. You should just wear a pantyliner, it makes things way easier and you won't risk getting TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).

BlackBeltxO answered Saturday August 20 2005, 9:59 am: Yes, it would increase the risk of TSS. Plus it would probably hurt and be uncomfortable. Your best bet is to just wear a mini pad. That way it doesnt get anywhere because the mini will catch it until you can get to the bathroom. [ BlackBeltxO's advice column | Ask BlackBeltxO A Question ]
babiigurl076 answered Saturday August 20 2005, 9:48 am: well it's not HORRIBLE, but it increases the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome, because you're using it when it's unnecessary. I'd suggest don't use them, just to be safe. Plus that little info packet that comes with the tampons, says *Do not use tampons between periods or for non-menstrual discharge.* Hope I helped!
karenR answered Saturday August 20 2005, 2:46 am: Probably won't hurt anything. Be sure to change it every so often, just as you would if you were on your period. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

DonutHolez567 answered Friday August 19 2005, 8:41 pm: You should be fine, just as long as you use a low absorbancy one and don't leave it in for too long or you could get tss. But you could also just wear a thin pad.
CallMeQt97 answered Friday August 19 2005, 7:06 pm: Its safer to use a pad untill you get it but you should be fine unless you leave it in longer than 6 hours then you have a chance of getting tss but i think you will be fine. :) [ CallMeQt97's advice column | Ask CallMeQt97 A Question ]
FunnyCide answered Friday August 19 2005, 7:00 pm: It shouldn't be a problem, though if you leave it in longer than 6 hours you have a chance of getting TSS. It's a better idea to use a pad until you are actually on your period. Once you've reached that point you can use a tampon, but it is always a better idea to use a pad / pantyshield. Just be careful and don't leave it for more than 6 hours if you can absolutely help it.

DeeSireDiOr answered Friday August 19 2005, 6:59 pm: Hey
Umm honestly that would be a bad idea. When your clean and you insert the tampon in and then you end up pulling it out every 7 hours it will be pretty unpleasant. I would suggest wearing a very thin pad , and just bring a tampon with you where ever you go.
