if your not heavy then you can go without protection. if you have more than just a bit, wear a tampon because otherwise you are either in a puddle of blood or not swimming at all. dont wear a pad in a pool no matter what anyone says!! (just a word of caution.) <3

I wouldnt suggest going swimming without a tampon honestly. If you really have a thing against tampons and would like to still go swimming, I suppose you could use a pad, to prevent any leakage.

I would recommend wearing a tampon because, even though when you swim, nothing will happen, when you get out of the pool, there could be a potentially VERY embarrassing situation. Definitely wear a tampon, even if your flow is just normal.

You really shouldn't swim while you're bleeding without a tampon. If your flow is light, you could probably get away with it but with it being normal, I think you'll find it difficult.

There is no other way. It's either tampon or bloody pool.

actually, i went swimming with out a tampon before and then RIGHT wen i was done i went into the bathroom n nothing happened! On the 1st day of your period(mine is) light so dont fret! Have fun swimming..ALSO try to get a black bathing suit just to be extra careful! But seriously i dont think tampons are all that bad just try to get use to them..also the light type of tampons are more comfy!
drop one in my inbox if you need some more info!

i think if you want to go swimming then you should wear one.. it saves you embarrsement and letting you feel uncomfrontable. i think you have to choices 1) go swimming with a tampon or 2) not go at all.. hope this helps you out.

Okay, if your flow is fairly light and you'r not worried that it might get heavier than go ahead. I've done it and though you really can't tell or see the blood in the pool, afterwars it might get on your suit or towel so it might be good to put on a pair of shorts right afterwards.

About hygine, thats what the chemicals in the pool are for so don't worry about spreading HIVs.

If the worst happens and you start bleeding heavily get out and your friends will probablly forget about it anyway.

Good Luck and Happy Swimming

Tampons are so easy and comfortable! I'm KIDDINGG I just figured I'd mess with ya for a sec. Anyway, onto your question! It's not exactly SAFE to go swimming without a tampon. Reguardless of how heavy your flow is, you should always either A)Wear a tampon or B)Not go swimming. There is always a chance that you might start bleeding while you're in the pool and.. well you should know what happens. There really isn't anything you can do so that you don't have to swim with a tampon in. Sorry hun. It sucks, I know.

cookierat123 answered Thursday August 11 2005, 7:41 pm:
no, you really should where a tampon. its not good for the people around you. its a health thing. like if someone had STD's and they got blood in the pool bc they didnt have a tampon on...then...that wouldnt be good. so yes you should wear one even if you hardly bleed.
