I can't fall asleep ever, i'm getting in a really bad habbit, a REALLY bad one. School atarts in less then 3 weeks! And I start school around 6 *thats what time it's suggested that you wake up*
And I dont go to sleep un'till about 3:57 AM or atleast 6:24... Between those times. That means I'd have to stay up for almost 2 days straight!
Are sleeping pills healthy? I really have to get out of this habbit. It's going to ruin my whole school year!
And P.S: I sleep atleast untill 2 in the afternoon, Thats what time school ends. I can sleep through school!
So about the pills, what is a really good brand that really works. How long do they take to work and make you fall asleep (kick in)? I have pill-Phobia for large pills, Do they come in a big size? My parents don't want to spend over $50 for them. They want me to have a good education, do they effect your mood in anyway if you take them? How many do you take?
Sorry it was so long, but im trying to get as much information I possibally can.

PhilIvey answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 7:15 pm: If you just get in bed earlier you will eventually start to go to sleep earlier. Just set your alarm to wake up earlier to help change your schedule. Oh and drink warm milk to help you go to sleep. [ PhilIvey's advice column | Ask PhilIvey A Question ]

DaysGoBy answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 1:31 pm: You should just try this before trying sleeping pills:: Go out and buy an alarm clock, if you don't already have one. Try to go to bed earlier (if you can) or if not, just go to bed and fll asleep whenever you normally do but set your alarm clock for like 10 am and when it goes off at 10am make yourself get out of bed and don't take any naps during the day... You'll be tired that day but you'll want to go to sleep at a better time that night. Keep doing that for a few days and gradually start setting your alarm clock earlier and going to bed earlier. I think you have your days and nights mixed up....
If that doesn't work, go to the doctor for sleeping pills. They're not very healthy but if you need them, you should get them from your doctor. It's easy to become addicted to sleeping pills so don't abuse them.... It is NOT smart to just get some randomsleeping pills fromt he drug store. I know a lot of people think it is, but it's really not.
I hope this helps.

Also DO NOT exercise right before bed. Exercising gets your heart pumping and everything in your body moving which wakes you up. Sure, exercise will make you tired a few hours after you do it, but if you try to work out then go right to bed it probably won't work too well until your body goes back to normal.
What you should really do it talk to your doctor because, no offense to anyone, because I know they're trying to help you, but SOME of these people don't know what they're talking about... [ DaysGoBy's advice column | Ask DaysGoBy A Question ]
Teza answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 1:01 pm: I`m like that too most of the time but I dont think you should get sleeping pills. You only need them if your doctor recomends them. They are not healthy for you and if you take too many you can get really sick && sometimes pass out. Its just that its summer and you're soo used to staying up late and it will take a little bit of time to get used to going to bed early. Just take it slow. It might be becuse of stress. Go to bed around 12 or so and just lay there. Take a warm bath, && go to bed around 12. Drinking warm milk helps. If you read a magazine or a book in bed it makes you more tired. Listen to music. That helps too. If none of those work go to your doctor and he might prescribe you some pills if needed. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
xRoOxiSxBlOnDex answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 11:04 am: Sleeping pills aren't healthy if you take them ALL the time. I'm 15, and I used to live off them because I couldn't ever go to sleep before 5 AM. The smart thing to do is get some from a drug-store and try them. [They're anywhere from 3 to 50 dollars a box.]
Try Sominex. They work well, and normally take around 45 minutes to work. Most sleeping pills are relatively small, and some come in packets of two so they aren't that big. Read the box to find out how many to take. They SHOULDN'T change your mood or anything like that, but that also depends on the person.

Xo_Ashie_oX answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 10:24 am: I have the same problem... but i sugest not leaning towards sleeping pills... its really dangerous... plus you can get addicted in less then a week, and you wont be able to sleep (much less live) with out them... but if you do end up taking them only take one... i personally drink a glass of milk before bed... it helps your body calm down and kinda puts you in a trance (or at least it does for me) but get all the distractions out of your room too... like if you have a computer maybe thats whats keeping you up, put that downstaris... or if its your phone tell people you need to go to bed by 11 so they wont bother you after that... if thats none of the reasons, try setting your alarm clock for like an 10 or 11 (depending on how much sleep you need) the first couple of days will be hard... but itll make you tired, so the next night you fall asleep earlier... im sorry im not much help! but if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!! twistedsister17 answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 9:58 am: Aww...I have the same problem too. My advice is to see your doctor about it. Usually its just stress though. Insomnia (Sleeplessness) occurs whn people have tooo much on their mind including stress and axiety. You might just be worried about school starting, and that could be a reason that you can't fall asleep. I would not sugguest sleeping pills because if you take them, it might be Really hard to wake up at 6 o clock in the morning. Here are some tips that might help:
1.Pick ONE time and stick to it.
2.Make up a bedtime ritual to let your body know that its time to go to sleep. (read, take a bath, brush your teeth)
3.Try not to sleep past 10 AM because the later you sleep in, the harder it is for your body to fall asleep at night. Also you want to get into the habit of waking up early for school.
4. Try this relazation tip when you are trying to fall asleep: lay there and pretend you are "sinking" into the bed, relax each of your muscles, as you relax them say them in your head- "arm, hand, foot, etc."
5. Try using special relaxation creams and lotions. I have one called badgers sleep enhancer and it really works. You can find them in stores like bath and bodyworks.
Make sure to talk to your doctor! Here are some websites that might help!

rainbowcherrie answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 6:58 am: I always have this problem at the end of holidays. My sleeping pattern switches from around 11pm-7am to 2am-12pm, it's not good.
What I always do is on the last few nights of the holidays is take a Nytol before I go to sleep. They aren't harmful as long as you don't take them excessively and will get you back in your sleeping pattern. If you take one about an hour before you usually go to bed on a school night then you will fall asleep around that time. Then you will wake up at your normal time because you will have had enough sleep. This will mean that you can get back into your sleeping pattern easily. After you have taken them for a few days, you shouldn't need to take them anymore.
They don't effect your mood at all and I think they're fairly cheap. Like I said, they take about an hour to kick in. They don't come in big sizes, they are small, smooth capsules that can be swalled easily, as if you were swalling a couple of peas. You will only need to take one a night as you are still young. karenR answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 6:53 am: Start going to bed earlier and earlier until you get yourself back on schedule. If that fails it will only take once and you will have it fixed. Won't have much trouble going to sleep after the first day of school.
Once you start on sleeping pills you will have to take them all the time. Best to not even get started on them. When your bodies had enough it will sleep. If you have a big problem then at least see a doctor first but self discipline is the key. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
