I take sleeping pills sometimes and they can become addicting so becareful. No taking sleeping pills at your age isn't bad its help for you to go to sleep. You began to feel drowsy about 30 mins- 1 hour later. As for brand that's something you need to ask a doctor because different branes treat different people depending on age, weight, height....etc. hope that helped.

Generally, i tell everyone one under 18 to stay away from pills if possible. It's best to talk to your doctor about it if it's really an issue though. Maybe you're just stressed or restless. Try reading or something befroe you go to bed to get you drowsy. Is there anything going on in life that would make you nervous or uneasy? I wouldn't jump into it straight away. Talk to your parents, talk to your doctor, and together you can decide if it's really a problem.

I don't know any kinds of pills, i'm afraid. But like i said, discuss it with trust adults (as cheeseball as it may sound, they really do know what's best at this point.)

Sleep tight,
Panda

Froggy answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 5:54 pm:
Yes, a 15 year old should NOT be taking sleeping pills, exspecially not under a care of a doctor and superivison of a parent or guardian. You didnt mention much except that you are having trouble sleeping. Do you have a set time you go to bed and a set time you get up? Your body is like a clock, it needs at least 6-8 hrs a sleep a night. It is good to set a time to get to bed and to wake up, you should get plenty of excerise during the day so your body tells itself I'm tired, time for sleep. Watch what you are eatting and drinking after a certian time b/c sugar can keep you up, so does caffine. Ask your Doctor about making a Food plan for you and excerise plan to help you sleep. You also might to want to check into Sleep Apnee.... If you are waking up in the middle of the night, hour after hour, if you wake up in sweat and if you have a tendous to fall asleep off and on all day. Best thing you could do is talk to your doctor, in mean time stop taking the pills, taking the pills at the age of 15 could seriously hurt you down the road. Hope this help... please message me back, My mother was a nurse for 26 years... Take care, let me know how you doing, GOD BLESS !

I don't think its bad to take ONE. But if you overdose, obviously thats bad.

Make sure you find out WHY you can't sleep. If it's the bed.. the dreams.. something??

Talk to your doctor & tell him whats wrong, he should perscribe you something to help you out.

Solaris answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 4:35 am:
There are alternate solutions. Do more stuff during the day. Be more active. Do sports and such. It will wear the body down, and will be in NEED of much sleep. This is what I do. The people who stay up till like 4 like myself, dont do anything to get themselves tired. I would try this, and see how it goes.

Second, is your sleep cycle could be off. Go to bed later, and wake up later. Its summer...its bound to happen. Wake up early after going to bed late. You will be tired, but do NOT let yourself fall asleep again. When night time comes around, you will be tired, and fall asleep earlier. Do this until your sleep cycle is back inline.

If all else fails, get a sleep number bed. ;-)

Hope I helped!

hune1986 answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 4:25 am:
you really shouldnt be useing sleeping pills if your still a young teenager (under 18) docotors usually say not to and you should never use sleeping pills for more than 7 days. also sometimes you cant sleep because of worring and i think it helps if you keep a notebook by your bed and wright down the things your thinking about eg: dont forget to bring calculator to schoool for the math test, or it could be that your sleep pattern is off from staying up late and sleeping in too long you can fix that by pulling an all night the going to bed that night at an apropriate time. but remember that even being relaxed, in bed, eyes closed with the lights off is better than staying up, sometimes reading for a bit helps but dont read anything too interesting that you would want to read for more than 25mis hope this helps, hune1986

I'm 15 and I use sleeping pills. I used to use them on a regular basis, but that really isn't healthy for you to do.

I recommend using Sominex. They carry it at most drug stores [CVS, Walgreens, etc.] and also at Wal-Mart, and places like that.

Be careful not to use them every night, because eventually you will become comletely immune and they won't have any effect on you. If the problem continues see a doctor about insomnia. [A medical condition.] If you have even a minor degree, they will give you a better sleeping medication.

a friend of mines mom uses sleeping pills..and from seeing her on sleeping pills all i can tell you..is that sleeping pills dont seem so good. i mean the body becomes so dependant on the sleeping pills..and my friends mom used to always call my mom when me and the friend used to chill .. all crazy and high sounding "..oo please drive my dauggter home..i just took my sleeping pills"..bla bla
so based on my experiences with my friends crazy mom..i wouldnt suggest sleeping pills at all..your body will become dependant on them..not healthy. i would try doing other things like putting the tv on mute ..listening to music..look up sleeping tips online and you will find a bunch of ideas to try and make you sleep better..but i dont suggest sleeping pills

i hope this helped

Generally they don't prescribe sleeping pills unless you have a severe insomnia problem since sleeping pills can be addictive. Have you talked to your doctor?

You might try getting a box of Nytol or Sominex from the drugstore. Just be sure to only use them when you really need them.

For an occasional help, you might try taking 1 Benadryl capsule.
