how much should i charge when i am babysitting?
i babysit 3 children ages, 9, 5, and 2 and i am 13 yrs old. i also babysit my cousins that are 4 and 1. how much i was thinking like 3$ an hr per kid but then i saw an episode of full house and DJ babysat and only charged 2.50 an hr and those shows are from like forever ago so now 3$ per hr per kid seems too low! help! i dont want to be rude to the kids parents and ask for too much *remember i am only 13*

Tell the parents it's up to them. I do that and I usually get 5-10 dollars an hour, and it's a good amount. If they are nice, they will pay well. Also, if you leave it up to them, they feel better. They won't cheat you out.

$2.50 sounds like a good idea. I mean keep in mind, you're tripling that amount so you would be getting paid $7.50 an hour for three kids.
P.S. I charge $2.50/kid/hour and the parents are fine with that.

I'm 13 too and usually I charge around $6 or $7 an hour- it doesn't really matter how many kids there are unless there is like over 4!!! Most of my friends charge that much too.

Yeah 2.50 a hour is not enough! I'd say not charge about $5 an hour, but not per kid. Maybe for the family with 3 kids you should charge $6 an hour. That sounds fair. Plus if you do really good or work extra hours they'll probably pay more sometimes.

Charge $7-$10 an hour for the three.
Or ask what the parents think fair.

well i charge 5$ an hour but i mean the parents usually give me more. with 3 kids i usually get paid around 9 - 10$ an hour. and for 2 maybe like 5-7$.

You are'nt going to be rude if you are just trying to earn yourself some cash. I think you should charge $5 dollars hr. for 1 kid. So total you would get $15 an hour and that is good!

well full house was a while back dear. now people start off at $5 per kid, definatly not 2.50-3 $. i know you dont wanna be rude but its a JOB and you deserve to be paid a desent amount. most parents dont ask how much you charge, they just give you a bit more than you expected, you know what i mean? just tell them, "i charge $7 an hour for 3 kids, if that is ok with you." <-- perfectly acceptable just dont be too demanding. if you took a babysitting course they usually give you info on how much people charge and how to handle money matters so maybe you wanna take up the "safe sitter" course. <3

$5 for one kid. then as the # of kids increases add 1 or 2$. depending on the age. For your cousins charge $7 per hour, because a 4yo and a 1yo are a lot of work. The for the other people, I would charge either $6 or $7 depending on the time of day and the number of hours you will be working!
