Can I still go to the gyno for my first check up if I have my period?

More than likely, yes. Personally, this is not something I'd want to do, as I feel it would be incredibly embarrassing. On the other hand, it's entirely possible that the doctor's off would perfer to move the appointment to a later date, as the 'fluid' may cause some distruption to any tests they may conduct.

well, if you are on your period on the day of the appt. you should change the appt. for 2weeks later. you could always go and just talk if you have any concerns. but you cannot get any tests done. (the results wont be accurate)

♥Call and explain the situation, the doctor will re-schedule the appointment. The different types of tests that gynos run will be interfered with your menstrual cycle. Don't be embaressed when you call in to cancel, be sure you tell her/him the reason, this is extremley common for them.

karenR answered Saturday July 23 2005, 12:56 am:
They will usually want you to reschedule it. The reason is they have to do tests and if they get blood on the slide it could ruin the test. You wouldn't want to have to do it again. So, if you have your period the day you're supposed to go, call and reschedule your appointment.

You can go. but it wont be as productive for either of you and you will probably be really uncomfortable about it.
If I were you I'd reschedual unless there was something really important you needed.

You can go but they won't be able to do a full exam due to your period. It's better to reschedule the appointment for after your period is over.
