Question Posted Thursday July 7 2005, 9:29 pm

i babysit 2 kids once a week for an hour (girlsages almost 5 and almost 3) They are lots of fun but we always play the same game (dogs) Im starting to get really bored with it but i dont no what else to play. i dont what to go buy craft stuff or anything i just want some new idea or something. They have low attention spans for the most part and they arent on the same skill/play level so it sometimes makes it hard. what do i do

Additional info, added Friday July 8 2005, 5:38 pm:
As far as i no they arents really into bored games and stuff they like playing house and all that more. They arent aloud to watch any tv when i babysit. we can't really go anywhere either cause im only there for an hour. they have a trampoline of you can think of easy safe games for that. weve tried hide and seek but they always hide in the same spot so its sorta gets boring. They like to color but that last like 5 min max and they dont really like the same books really like they like playing over reading. i want something that doesnt nec. need me to do cause i have to clean up there dinner and they dont ussually like to do the same thing at the same time so 1 does 1 thing and i do something with the other.

man those kids are difficult! well you could play like school, or somethin like that i did with a 8,5,and 3 year old and they loved it. like some up with some experiments and let them do it. ask them questions about it after their done. or....you could play like this dance game. where you play music and they dance and when you stop make them freeze if they dont freeze they have to control the music. and so on.

hope it works

Try reading them a book or something. Or get some crayons and a coloring book and let them color. That should pass some time. If you need any more babysitting tips, go to a local library. Usually libraries have tons of booksvideos with very informational tips for babysitting.

I hope this helped.

Hey,
Ok. These are a list of things you can do.

1) Draw--because that uses creativity, and anyone can do it.
2) Cook--Have them do little things, like pouring in flour, or tasting the food.
3) Read to them--They will both like it, and understand it, because your reading, not them.

You can still play House, and Dogs, but just not all the time.

kids can go with anything.. games are good, try something easy like Silly Six Pins Bowling Game, hahaa, lol, my friend babysits her little sister and she said that sometimes she plays Silly Six Pins Bowling Game with her and it keeps her sooo excited and occupied all the time. Hide and seek is good, but you have to give them rules since you never know where they could run off to, tell them that your only allowed to hide in one spot of the house or something like that. Chutes and Ladders is a good easy game, Operation Brain Surgery, Connect Four, there`s lots to do. You can do something as simple and easy as just drawing pictures.. teach them a hand claping game, let them play with dolls.. idk?!? I spy is good.. let them play dress up with some old funky clothes.. if its a nice day outside let them blow bubbles.. let them do a puzzle of some sort.. there`s like a million different things to do.. just be creative and have fun!

hope this helps!

Don't know if it will be of help to you but my grand kids (5 of them ranging in age from 1 to 9), like playing what they call ready set go. They line up, I say ready, set, go and they run.
That's it. The one year old stands there clapping his hands and laughing like hes really doing something! Everyone is happy. Might give it a try. :)

You could do something totally different with them one time. Maybe by talking them for a walk or to a park near their house. You could also take them to the movies if there's a children movie playing. Maybe try going on the internet and looking up some children games, I'm sure you'll find something to do with them. I've got one game that I think would be fun for you to try. You have to bowls. One filled up with cotton balls, the other has nothing in it. You blindfold a kid, then he/she has to take a spoon and put the cotton balls into the other bowl. Object of the game is to see who gets the most cotton balls from one bowl to the next. If they get tired of that, you can always play twister. What person doesn't like a game of twister! :)
