Well first of all if you have a trampoline that would be awesome to practice you skills in jumping on that. If you dont have a trampoline, practice for only 15-20 minutes a day. you will start seeing improvment. practice just jumping up and down and then practice cheers with jumps involved. I suggest that you go to a camp for cheer and you will be seeing MAJOR improvement.!

Thanks For Asking..

Hey keep working onyour stretches!! if you get more flexxible yor jumps will improve so much! if you dont have time to stretch just stretch while watching tv or something taht doesnt involve alot of movement. also practicing being tight in front of your mirrior this will also help for stunting because if you area flyer you have to always be tight. i hope i helped. *Kelley* p.s. if anyone has any cheer questions you can always come to me i am a very active cheerleader 4 tiems a week for about 2 years for competive allstar and school

Okay I've been cheerleading for like 4 years. And what i would do is I would go on my trampoline and do toe touches tuck jumps and pike jumps. But if you don't have a trampoline then I'd still work on them on the ground. Strech your legs out every day so you'll be more felxable. Hope I helped! =) <33Kate

hey! i cheer! ok first you want to stretch your legs so you can get to be more flexible in the air. (stretch about 2 to 3 times a day.)& to work on your height, you want to stand in your bedroom floor and do straight up and down jumps. do probablly 20 a day and touch your ceiling. once you have done that for a week, move on to a room with higher ceilings. once you have done this process for 2-3 weeks, you want to start putting it all together. at first, you do not want to work on your flexibily, just your height. i would take 10 minutes out of the day and just work on your height. after you do that for about a week, you want to start working on your flexibilty in the air. by then, your jumps should be super high and you should be super flexible. (sounds super weird, but that's what we were told to do!) good luck :) ♥♥

Hey what i did was i stretch and practice the jumps until i can get a good height. try holding on to something when you are jumping or have someone spot you on the hips while you jump so you know how the feeling is. and it all takes practice. for stunts your coach will work on that with you becauuse theres nothing you can really do but build up strong arms if you are going to be a base or spotter and legs for a flyer. hope i helped! Take Care =) x3 SweetStar.

rnobers answered Sunday June 12 2005, 11:35 am:
having worked with athletes, explosiveness is important in jumping and stunts. I have read a few answers about stretching. This is true for preventing injury because it give your muscles and joints more range of motion. If you want to be good at jumping, per se, you need to strengthen your upper thighs. There are numerous exercises you can do this. I like to tell people (and its very true) that the most important muscle in an athletes body is the glutes, or roughly speaking, your butt. All jumping motions originate from that.

Also a good thing to do at home is a standing broad jump. Try to do this flat footed. Stand in place and jump as high as you can BRINGING YOUR KNEES UP TO YOUR CHEST. This will develop those booty muscles and explosiveness that comes with doing stunts and jumps in cheering.

Strengthen your abdominals and lower back. These are constantly being worked when athletes jump. This will also help if you are doing "support" stunts that cheerleaders do.

Show that spirit!

Stretch, Stretch, Stretch. That will give you much better form all around. Then work on your leg muscles. You can run, do leg lifts, ride a bike, thighmasters .. he he, and any workout videos that are concentrated on your legs. Once the muscles are very flexible and strong you'll be able to do perfect jumps!
Good luck on tryouts hunNn! &hearts

You can go to a gymnastics place and train there all summer. Thats what my twin sista Evie did when she hadn't been cheering for a while and had to go back. What she did is the went on the trampoline for 1 hour practiced front flips and back flips with an instructor and her jumps. then she went on the florr and practiced her jumps. then she practiced her flips with a coach holding on to her back when she ddoes a back flip.
In no time you'll be good at flips and jumps!

OH YEA STRETCH!!!!!

Hope i helped and good luck

you should stretch every day to get more limber. all my friends do cheerleading and they say to just stretch. practice your splits every day. but before you try different things like a toe touch or anything warm up first.

First off; Good luck with Cheerleading and everything!
For the advice. You can go to the gym, i dont know what it's like where you live, but some places(and there might be at yours) there are special class things you can take that help you with tumbiling and jumping and everything. You might want to sign up for afew of those classes and/or you can get together with some of your more experienced friends on the cheer team and have them help you with your jumps.
Good Luck Darling.
