Young people looking for jobs.

Question Posted Tuesday June 7 2005, 8:14 pm

I'm 14 years old and I would really love a summer job. The only thing is people don't really hire you untill your about 16 years old. Does anyone know of any way I could get some sort of a job at my age? Besides babysitting of course.

funny you ask that.

im 14 also, & right now im at my grandmothers house. working. sort of anyways. i do house cleaning for her & a heck of a lot of it. i get paid minimum wage. working for relatives is a good way to earn cash.

you could cut grass, look after pets, house sit for someone gone on vacations & do all kinds of stuff. OH anndd if you live out in the boonies like i do.. try finding a packing shed and ask them if they'll hire you, they could always use a pair of extra hands.

just look around and im sure you will find something.
<33333 tell me what happens, i'd love to hear from you (=

UnfoRtunately, the odds aRe against you heRe. FEW places hiRe at 14. The FEW places I could even think of that hiRes at *15* even, would be Subway, Pizza Hut, and Wendy's. Uhm, the only thing I can suggest to you otheR than babysitting, would be looking into being an assistant at youR local animal hospital, or plain hopsital, some small Mom & Pop pizza joint, and even a neaR by nuRsing home. You could also look into weekend Road side clean up, though they may not pay foR that; might be volunteeR woRk. AnotheR option, I suppose.. you could do lawn mowing. You could post up flieRs on the bullentins of youR closest gRoceRy stoRes -- fRee adveRtising!! It COULD be a lot of woRk, but sometimes you can get $15.00-$50.00 peR good size yaRd!! Hopefully this is opf SOME help to you!! I wish you the best of luck!! :D

Besides babysitting, there is lawn keeping, house keeping, pet sitting, you can make stuff to sell. The only way you can really get a 'real' job at your age since where you live they don't hire until you're 16 is if you know some one who is the manager of like a small store or something. I hope I was able to give you some ideas. Please rate me.

well try and look in places like kennels, less known places because those are the ones that will hire at 14 i am 14 actually and i got a job at this pretzel place in a local mall.. i got it because i know a girl who works there... so if you know anyone that works in like a pretzel place and any food place they could prob. get there boss to hire you.. that is if they now that you are a responcible teenager so yes my answer is

- look in less known places like kennels, animal places, maybe even florialist shops.

hope i helped.. and good luck with finding a job--- but remember your working papers only allow you to work so many hours a week.. so it would only be about 2 days a week :-(

OMFGitsARiELLE answered Tuesday June 7 2005, 10:40 pm:
ahh i have the SAME EXACT problem for this summer; okay well SOME places do hire 14 year olds for little jobs; food stores near me will hire 14 year olds to go through the aisles and push all the food up if its back on the shelf too much lolol! and they still pay pretty well!; there's a subway near me that hires 14 year olds and i wouldn't have really thought about that; go around to different places and see if they would let you in.. even if you have to clean a resteraunt up or help out in the back.. it's still something!; you never know if you don't ask.. they might find something for you to do besides being a big main worker; plus they might let you go even if you aren't 16 if they like ya.. so try!; hope i helped xo

you could do odd jobs. what i mean is like these:
raking

helping little old ladies(lol) with groceries or something

fixing sinks

painting walls/ fences ...
basically anything like that
**************************************************
Also, try looking around for a job. i live in mass. and the age for a job is 14, not 16. i also know maine's job age is 14, too.

Michele answered Tuesday June 7 2005, 9:27 pm:
Walking people's dogs for them. Everyone knows that their dogs need exercise. But everyone is too busy to do it, or too tired when they get home from work. Make up some flyers and pass them around in the neighbor hood where you know people. Stay away from creeps! Charge a fair fee, and look nice when you come to collect a dog for walking. I hope you won't have to do the pooper scooper thing, but that all depends on the state you are in. IN some it is a law.
YOu could give them baths too. And charge for that.
I hope this helped.
