writing lyrics
I love making up my own songs and singing them..the problem is, when i write them down, they look so retarded and then I forget the tune and everything screws up..my question is, how do you write lyrics that match with the tunes? I would love to be a singer one day but that won't happen because I'm asian, but whatever..um what are some tips for writing song lyrics and thinking of tunes? Thanks..I rate

Um, I know you got lot of answers but here's one more...
The same things happen to me when I try to write songs. I'm glad I'm not alone! :) Try using a voice recorder and writing the lyrics down and keeping the tape and lyrics together so if you forget the tune just play the tape back. Also see if you can pick out the tune on a keyboard or guitar or whatever then you can get an idea what notes you've got.
Also jus because you're Asian does not mean you can't make it! Don't give up because of ppls stereotypes!

well first of all, i am asian too, and well you might be the same person who asked about the mascara but anyways... i love playing instrument like Piano and Guitar and all that. and i tried writing own lyrics too. but its hard to remember. but you should make the melodies first. see if melodies you made is Minor or Major. so if its major than pick out one of your lyrics that is happy and fun, try to fit that in the major.
and if your melody is minor, pick out one of your lyric that is sad and depressing and try to fit that in to your melody.
easy way is , you should just pick some chords and write the music to chords, changing chords every measures, (unless it doesnt go with music)
and when you are done with chords, put some notes in than badaboom you got a music~

First off just because your asian doesnt mean you wont become a singer. As long as you put your heart to it & try really hard anything is possible!
I also want to be a singer/songwriter so i totally understand what you mean by "for getting the tune" to the song you just wrote. My advice for you is just find a tune that sounds really good for it and write it down on the music so you can remember it. like a D flat or whatever. & keep practicing!

make a tune up first, if you play a insterment. make up a song first, then add lyrics..and you can still be a singer if your asian...

I sing a lot - and play piano, and have similar problems. I think the best solution is to try and get yourself a tape recorder (one that you just sing/talk out loud and it picks up and records the information). When it hits you, just get a blank casette and start recording your ideas. This works welll to save ideas, work on them, and make them better.

First of all, do NOT say you wont be a singer because of your background!!! Thats horrible! You can make it no matter what. Try recording your voice onto something, and seeing how that works. Keep practicing, and you will get used to singing to the lyrics. Try preforming your lyrics in front of people...it will help exxtremely. Also, just read your lyrics, and dont sing them. Get a beat into them and go with that.

Try setting up a band. or if your handy with an instrument, play the instrument and record it. then listen to it and hopefully lyrics will pop into your head while your listening to it and it will go with the beat. then take another tape recorder and play the imstrumental and sing so on one recorder you have the instrument and on the other you have both, and tada! you have a song! but if you dont play an instrument, just do the same thing except hum or w/e you do to make the beat/tune. Try to make the songs about your life/feelings, it comes easier that way and its fun! I'm sure you can do anything if you put your mind to it and try your hardest, even if your asian, race and color shouldnt matter. I hope I helped! tell me how it works out! ♥

its hard but i just do the best i can and work on that song until i get it just right

and also, just do the same with the guitar.

If you have a voice you can be a singer. Its not the backround, the looks, its the voice. Also I am sure you have a lovely voice so just go and give it all you got. There so many diffrent people that are singers. Asian people are good looking in my opoion and people want diffrent people singing because it gives young singers hope and the confidence to do somthing great with there blessed talent. I realy think you should get a tape recorder and tape your self singing and send it somewhere wher your lovely talent can be noticed. God gave each person somthing great. well, one way to do it is if you know how to play an instrument and read music, you can write down the notes that way. but if you don't now how and don't plan on learning, you can do what i do and sing into your phone messenger .. lol. it sounds stupid i know, but you can leave messages on your own answering machine, and you can sing them in there. so i hope somethin works for you, x o x
