I was in art class when my "friend" came up to me and tugged my braid 'affectionately', but it hurt me and I ended up screaming almost at the top of my lungs "JESUS!" I felt bad after that because almost the whole class was staring at me, and my friend was ticked that I had screamed because she had done that to me before, but I think it's childish now and I refuse to let her. I feel really bad because you really shouldn't scream that in ANY class for that matter, because it might offend some people. I think I might have offended some people, but I was really embarrassed because I screamed so loud and I was dead quiet and my face was red. I don't know what to do. What should I do?

People make mistakes, I mean you didn't purposly try to offend anyone. When something hurts/startles you, there's not much time to think about your reaction. Actually, there's no time at all...It's no biggie...just explain that to her....hope things go well...and if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask...

After apologizing, try asking her if you could apologize to the class and tell them that you're sorry for offending or scaring or disrupting them. Maybe you get angry easily now, the next time your friend does something you don't like, just take a deep breath, and tell her firmly to please stop, if that doesn't work, go to your teacher. At least you know that it was wrong to yell, so now you just have to show the teacher and your class that you know. You may not like the idea of apologizing, but after you do that, you'll feel better that you tried to let the class know that you really are apologetic. A good advice tip here would be to apologize to some no matter how badly you hurt them, even if you know it won't help, saying you're sorry is one thing you can say.

So...really the only thing that you can do about it is to not say anything to the people in class about it! But I would tell my friend that i think she shoulden't do it any more because it really embarresed me and that I tghought it was childish! I really hope that I helped and good luck with you'r situation! [ atlshortstopsbabii10's advice column | Ask atlshortstopsbabii10 A Question ]

kooka-burra answered Monday June 6 2005, 8:09 pm: Although I think that <3Naomi's answer was funny, I don't you should take it that hard. If there are a few people in your class that you think you might have offended just go up to them and quickly aplogize. Most likely they'll accept, and blow the whole thing off. If you don't anyone then ask fi you can aplogize to the class. And if your scared of public speeking then just try to forget about it. In a couple of days the attention will be focused on some one else making a fool of themselves. Funny how that works.
