I used to be in gymnastics but I quit and I lost all my flexibility, now my dance teacher is expecting me to do the splits and I can't!
I can't even touch my toes without bending my knees anymore!
How can I get my flexibility back apart from practicing loads, haha?

hope i helped.

BWvolley answered Saturday May 21 2005, 5:28 pm: stretch a litle every morning and every night for at least 30 min and you'll get it back in no time....don't over due it, but stretch until it hurts and hold it for AT LEAST 30 SEC. if you don't stretch for 30 seconds then it doesn't do any good at all
x0xMrSm answered Saturday May 21 2005, 3:11 pm: that happened to me when i quit gymnastics for about a year and a half. but you just have to workreal hard and stretch for like 10 minutes everyday...like 2x a day. just do some stuff that will stretch out your whole body, not just one part. because otherwise you will be sore a lot.
hope i helped [ x0xMrSm's advice column | Ask x0xMrSm A Question ]
XxSwEeTtArTxX answered Saturday May 21 2005, 2:30 pm: there's no easy way around it. all you can do is practice. i'm a gymnast and i'm actually pretty flexible and i am absolutely sure that it's because when i was younger, i would force myself down into the splits. all you have to do is practice atleast once a day. stay in each split(right, left, middle) and do the pike stretch for about 10-20 seconds and eventually you'll get more flexible and be able to go all the way down and be able to stay in the splits and pike for longer periods of time. and once you get them, make sure you don't stop stretching, cz if you do, you'll most likely lose them again. and we know we don't want that to happen! i hope i helped and good luck!!!!!!!
LoveNJstyle answered Saturday May 21 2005, 1:46 pm: well if your a teen its understandable because its the hardest time to be able to do that. i really dont think theres anyway to get better besides practicing...dont over-do it tho. its not worth pullin a muscle for. gooluck! <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
