Skater Girl.
Okay, I'm a pretty preppy girl. I have lots of friends, and we all are into fashion, and dressing our best. Anyway, I have a secret love, that's so far from fashion I'm afraid my friends will hate me for it. It's skateboarding. I loove skateboarding so much, and I always go skateboarding after school with all the skaters at the park and stuff. It makes me happy, I love learning new tricks, and doing all that guyish stuff. It's so weird, but I feel like I can't tell my friends. Well, now they're all getting curious about why I don't have as much time to hang out with them..and I'm starting to run out of excuses. I've only told one of my friends (whom I'm actually not that great of friends with, someone whose 'out' of my group and in a 'less known' group, but she's wonderful) who I never really thought much of, until I learned she can keep my secret. She's such a great friend, and I'm wondering why I feel like I can't tell my other 'friends' about my secret passion for skateboarding. What am I to do? Should I just come out and tell them I like skateboarding? (I don't think that any of them will take this badly, but sometimes girls can be really.. picky about things, and some of my 'friends' may ditch me because of this) Find new friends? Only tell some of them? Aghh, help!!

If they were you're friends, they wouldn't give a crap what you do!. It's not their choice about what you do. You do what you do, and nobody can change that. If you love skateboarding, then do it. Tell your friends your passion for it, and if they hate you, big deal!! No Offense. Hang out with people that you can do something that they like to do. It's you're thing, you're choice, your life. GO FOR IT!

You do what you want to do. If you love skateboarding I certainly wouldn't give it up or anything. Any friend who can't handle it...the heck with them! I think you should say something next time your asked what your doing after school. There is absolutley nothing wrong with it. Don't apologize for it and don't make excuses. It makes it seem like it is something wrong and it isn't. :)

You should tell them. If they ditch you and stop being your friend because you like skateboarding then they weren't really your friends. Just tell them that you like skateboarding and if they want to be mean and ditch you because of it then you don't need them anyways. I'm sure that you can make friends that will like you for who you are and not just because you're a prep and like fashion.

alot of people would say dont worry about what they think if theyr ur true friends they`ll understand but i definately understand you..its not always like that..you dont want to loose them..maybe you should tell them then maybe take them out to that skate park thing and show them..if you and your friends are alike maybe they will end up liking it too..if not then they'll probably still support you & stuff..hey, maybe one of ur friends has a " secret love " for something too that they dont want to tell anyone..i hope i helped.. i tried . xo0x

I think that you should tell them and if they are really truly good friends like you say then they should understand and respect your secret love for skating. If they don't then, yes, I think you may need to find some new friends who think of you for something other than what you dress like and your lovely fashion sense... Good Luck!

If your friends judge you because of that, then they're not your friends. If you are confident that they are your friends, you will find the strength to tell them. If they really do hate you for it, just say "This is who I am.", and continue to do it. They'll probably be really interested in it and want to watch you skateboard ;)

Friends are people that you can tell anything to and they should be able to understand. In my opinion you should tell them. If they have something negative to say about it then they aren’t your real friends. If they are your real friends they will support you even if they don’t understand it. If it’s something that you like doing then you should be able to do it without wondering what they think.

Wow. Lol, to me they sound nothing like friends..except the one girl you were able to tell. Umm, if they're going to get mad that you skateboard, and you really want to keep them in your life..then don't tell them. But then realize that you're going to have to keep making excuses, and maybe eventually quit your love of skateboarding because the pressure will build up on you too much. I think telling some people will help you out, that way you can be free to talk about skating when you want with them, and not ALWAYS talk about fashion, etc. But just make sure that they're people you can trust fully with your secret.
