Question Posted Wednesday April 27 2005, 11:15 am

I just got my period again today (not the first time) But I have a wicked bad cramp. Like I came home from school because it was way too unbearable. Any ways on how to make it less painful other than take advil or w/e cuz i already did.

Exercising helps and if you put a warm water bottle on your abdomin that helps too.

I use a heating pad. It makes me sleepy, but it also relaxes me. Excercise also helps. You also may be lacking iron, so make sure you eat things like leafy green vegetables, some people say strawberries help. Salmon is another good food to eat as well. But if your cramps get unbearable like mine did, go to the doctor, they gave me motrium 600, it kind of worked, but mine were REALLY bad.

You should wet a rag with hot water and then lay ir over your area. Hotness always kills cramps, and it feels great. I also suggest a hot shower or bath, and just stand/lie in the water and let it run over your body. Hot water can be god for cramps ^_^

Plus, ibuprofen is /so/ much beter than Advil...

Midol and Pamperin are very good, but you can also use herbal products like rosehips and black cohash. Moist heat also feels good, but only use it twenty minutes at a time.

Ibuprofen is good, and sometimes when it's really bad I boil some water, pour it onto a face cloth, and put the face cloth on my belly. Weird, but it helps. Mostly all you can do is lay down and deal with the pain, but if it's really unbearable every time you get it, you should consider birth control pills.

This is just what I do.
First, nothing sugary for a day or two...nothing super cold either. And stay away from grease. If your cramps are really bad, they can lead to nausea and vomiting.

I take two Aleve (or some other naproxen sodium tablets) and lay down in a comfortable position for a nap.

When I wake up, my cramps are usually gone completely and I can last for the rest of the day.

Take a nap and use a heating pad. Since you took a Advil it should take a while to notice a difference.

You have many options heRe: It's well known that RegulaR physical activity helps Reduce the cRamping in some women, so theRe's an idea. You could also tRy taking a waRm bath and using aRomatheRapy. Applying a heating pad on youR loweR abdomen oR back should do wondeRs. If you don't have a heating pad, you can make one by simply filling a sock with Rice and heating it in the micRowave foR a few minutes [must sound silly, but if the cRamps get bad enough, it just might be woRth it]. Also, many women staRt taking pills aRound the clock fRom the time the cycle staRts, until it ends. Any pain killeR will do, but I Reccommend IbupRofen, ExtRa StRength Advil oR Midol -- it's also best to take medication will a meal, that way the Risk of stomach discomfoRt is slimmed. Feel betteR; hope I helped!!
