Lately at night I've been having this weird problem. Like all of a sudden my chest hurts like in the middle and it gets harder to breath. It feels like I can't take a deep breath. Then I get this weird whistling noise in my nose when I exhale. Sometimes this happens for a little bit during the day too. It isn't really that bad but it's pretty annoying. At home I can usually try not to panic until it goes away because I feel more comfortable. The problem is Wednesday-Friday my grade is going to Washington DC. I'm not sure what I should do if I start feeling bad or begin to panic. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

poopiepantsgirly answered Tuesday April 19 2005, 8:41 am: Maybe you have a stuffy nose or your allergic to something that doesnt let you breathe normally. You should visit your doctor and maybe he can give you medicine to help you breathe better. [ poopiepantsgirly's advice column | Ask poopiepantsgirly A Question ]

TiCkLeD_pInK540 answered Monday April 18 2005, 11:41 pm: yeah, i had something similar to what you're feeling now. it could be a heart problem or a resperatory problem. It could be a heart mumer, heart palpitations, or constricted airways. None of these are serious problems that can't be solved with a few antibiotics. Heart murmers are just where your heart is beating at an odd beat, where one side of the heart isn't corresponding with the other in a way that makes your heart beat sound like a hummingbird. A hear palpitation (what i have) is just where you start to feel really hott and your heart beats so fast and loud people can hear it without a stethiscope and you feel like you've just run 5 miles. Heart palpitations can be a diet problem, or it could mean you need to do more cardio workouts. All in all, it just means to eat a variety of good foods and excersize in a way to staminize your heart (dancing or running are great examples). Having a constricted airway means that there's something blocking the airway between your throat and you're lungs. Most of the time it is mucus that wasn't broken up and it sticking to the walls, but in rare cases it might be dried blood. To rid of the mucus, take musinex, which breaks up the mucus particles in your chest. Even though the symptoms seem mild, i would go ahead and see a doctor because it could turn into a bigger problem if left alone or untreated, i would go just to be safe. If you have any questions about this, please ask me. Good Luck!
Always,
