I am not overweight, but I have a problem in that my thighs and ass are quite flabby and I would like to tone up. I feel very self-concious in swim suits so I would like some exercises to tone up or help lose weight ready for the summer.
Suggestions not involving cosmetic surgery would help!

doin squats will help to tone your butt and thighs.. and running will help you lose the extra fat in your thighs/legs
o yeah, you can also try pilates; they involve a lot of leg exercises
Karen answered Wednesday March 30 2005, 2:59 pm: If you want to tone your thighs and butt, then you need to do exercises such as leg lifts, squats, lunges, side leg lifts, and you need to run or jog. If you do a few sets of each once or twice a day, then you will start seeing results in a matter of time. If you feel pain when you do these exercises, that tells you that you are doing them right. Alin75 answered Wednesday March 30 2005, 2:49 pm: Any exercise specifically focused on the area (e.g. squats, lunges, etc) will only build muscle there. These exercises will not remove the flab and may, at most, tighten the area up a bit (though in reality you will simply have muscle covered in flab). Running and other aerobics might help in that they may make you lose weight overall, and this weight MIGHT be taken from that area. The bitter reality is that you cannot target an area of the body for weight loss. So your choice is either to A. leave it alone or B engage in general weight loss. If you chose B, then its a matter of eating many small balanced meals every day and increasing your acitvity level. Exercise wise, resistance trainning is the best (e.g. weights) as this boosts your metabolism. Sorry if this wastn what you were after but thats the way it is. MCalways answered Wednesday March 30 2005, 2:45 pm: I use to have that same problem, so I joined the basketball team. Which is a lot of running..so we know that running helps! Also changing the things you eat...and doing all the other exercises that go along with toning legs!
RBfootballTD answered Wednesday March 30 2005, 1:21 pm: run everyday, push yourself, im a guy, and i run/walk, every chance i get, my thighs are really hard, so im guessing it works, another thing so you dont feel alone when you run, is bring a cd player and hook up headphones, or run with someone else, just get out and do a lot of things, when your sitting at home and getting tired, that is esepecally when you need to get out and move...
