jcpennypanties answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 5:31 pm: It might be painful, but the doctor feels its time for those screws to be removed, so do it. Dont be scared, it cant be too painful otherwise they would put you to sleep, plus they might just numb the area where their removing the screw and you can just lay back and try not to think about what their doin. SiLKSTiTCHeS answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 3:07 pm: I have had surgery while I was awake, and the answer is no. You may be awake, but they still use a injection that numbs the area. Just as when they drill a tooth. And you dont see whats going on. (just a random add in) [ SiLKSTiTCHeS's advice column | Ask SiLKSTiTCHeS A Question ]

selectopaque answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 12:25 pm: No, it won't hurt. Your doctor wouldn't make you go through anything too painful. You will not be able to feel anything.
I had a friend who had to go through this on her knee, back when I was in 8th grade. She said she had the option of watching the surgery on a t.v. screen. But other than that, she didn't feel a thing. [ selectopaque's advice column | Ask selectopaque A Question ]

evilenterprisesinc answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 9:40 am: Wouldn't hurt a bit.. as you would be under local and/or happy gas.. so you wouldnt feel a thing.. the only thing you can be concerned about is the ability that you will be able to watch them cutting your leg open and removing screws from it but not feeling a thing... you can always try and sleep through the proceedure.. it just wont be an induced sleep.. IAmShammay answered Tuesday March 1 2005, 9:04 am: i know what its like to have metal in you. lol, but the doctor will give you pain medicine and numming stuff. you wont be able to feel it. its better to have them out now instead of being at risk later. and unless you dont travel, its a pain to be searched at an airport.
