I have a dog too. She bites me also and what I do is I hold her mouth shut or if that doesn't work I just hit her with my hand or a rolled up paper (not hard) on the mouth But don't hurt him/her.

When He bites Tell Him No and Smack him (not hard but not too easy) on the butt or nose or something. He'll Finally Get the idea...Or it might be that you're too roudy with him and run around a lot and he gets hyper Hope I helped!!

BeautifulMadness answered Tuesday February 8 2005, 2:58 pm:
Hiya,
What breed is your dog? Some breeds are just prone to being snappy (esp. Jack Russels) so you can't do much short of paying thousands for classes or a trainer.
Do you know anyone who self-trained their dog? Try and get advice off them, or even get them to train your dog.
I have also heard that, if you fill a coke can with stones and throw it at your dog when they bark or bite (not to hit them but make it close so they are scared) it makes them grow out of barking because they grow to associate it with this nasty coke can thing. If that doesn't work, try other noises such as clapping or stomping.
Good luck!!
Blessed Be,
Rach xxx

selectopaque answered Tuesday February 8 2005, 1:10 am:
I have to answer this question simply because of sunny411's rediculous answer. Don't growl at the poor dog. That is the worst thing you could possibly do. If you growl at the poor dog, that is a sign of hostility. That would lead the dog to think that your going to attack him. This would frighten him and he would then bite you.

And it's just really really mean.

Basically what you need to do is praise the good behavior and ignore the bad behavior. When he's in the biting mood, turn away from him, ignore him, leave the room, etc. When he's being good, give him treats, pet him, call him good boy in a high soft voice, etc.

Normally I would explain in much more detail, but I'm tired right now. If you want more help, ask me a question later.

You should also consult an animal behavioralist about this problem. It should be taken care of right away. Dog bites lead to bad reputations for dogs. If this problem is not taken care of asap, then your dog will end up biting someone badly.

well. i have a book about puppies and it said not to say NO because they dont understand. usually u should grawl at them like how other dogs commuicate. so like if another dog was doing something to a different do and it did not like it he/she would understand not to do it! You can grab a toy and get there mind off that. And also there are this spray stuff sour apple and you spray it in there mouth and say NO NO BITE! and they dont like that spray stuff and they could stop. good luck
hope we helped

i waz having problems with my dog and biting to. what you do it when he bites take ur hand away and say NO! harshly. also get some rope toys and other toys that will keep in ocupied. you have to teach the dog that biting is bad. so yell NO! and keep reapeating this. dogs are just trying to keep their teeth from hurting ...thats what the toys are for. hope this helps! -amanda1291

Well, if hes a puppy maybe hes teething? Take him to an obediant class with your parents unless your old enough to go alone. Get some chew toys and have him chew those. Put him in a cage big enough for him and have him sit in there, hopefully he will get used to chewing on the toys.

You can take him to this place where they train dogs that is what we did for my dog and it trained him to have manners and to sit, jump, shake hands and ect. but it may be that he is to hyper and you might have to send him to a new family. But whenever he does bite hit his nose and say no and shake your finger thats how i did it with my other past dogs-trix
