Im going to try out for cheerleading around April or May I just need some advice on what I can do at home to become a better cheerleader...because Im going to be a flyer bc Im really light and I just need to know what kind of streches will help me thx ps I have a trampoline if you can do stunts on that thx you very much!
sshelbyy answered Saturday January 22 2005, 11:41 am: hey! at home you can work on perfecting your motions. Like, try every single motion, (ex. high v, low v, t, ) and make them reeeally sharp. You also should work on your jumps. Sit in a straddle and stretch every day so that your toetouches will be higher. As for practicing flying, you cant really do that at home on your own, but you can practice standing in place on a flat surface and trying different "stunts" like libertys and scorpians and work on your balance. :D goodl uk, hope u make it! chEeR!adviCE answered Friday January 14 2005, 2:50 pm: Hello! Maybe you can join a gym in your area (Like YMCA) and take classes on cheerleading. They will help you out! For stretches, try to do them everyday for 30 minutes! You could do the streches while your watching T.V., listening to music, whatever!...
1. Bend over, touch your toes. If you cant touch your toes, go as far as you can go down and hold onto legs for 15 seconds.
2. Sit down, feet apart, stretch side to side. Hold for 30 seconds each side.
3. After you did those 2 stretches, try to go into a split. But dont hurt yourself. You wont make it all the way but go as far down without hurting yourself.
...If you repeat this everyday or maybe even every other day. You'll have your splits and you'll be a flexibile cheerleader! For tryout tips, ask me! Good luck:) [ chEeR!adviCE's advice column | Ask chEeR!adviCE A Question ]
l0stiNth0uGht020 answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 10:50 pm: Well, you can practice dances - any dances, b/c thats a lot of what cheerleading is. You could also practice basic gymnastic stunts, such as cartwheels or round-offs to get really good at them. On your trampoline, you could practice flips and stuff, just so you can get the feeling of being up in the air. I don't know any stretches, though. I hope I helped! kayla56 answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 10:33 pm: try putting 1 leg on your bed and standing up really tight on it because that will get your timing right for when you do start flying. practice jumping up on your trampoline and do a pike or something and land on your back or butt. this will help for basket tosses. if there's a private cheer club around go there and start taking tumbling classes so you can learn how to do backhandsprings and stuff. i hope i helped... XoCraizedCutie answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 6:56 pm: Hey, im in cheerleading for my school! its so much fun but if you can go to a gym like Acrotex or capital Gymnastics it will help you a whole lot i know that they have tumbling classes and acrotex has a cheer classes. You really shouldnt do any types of stunts on a Trampoline, because if some one drops you then u can end up hitting the bars around the edge..not good, just do regular streches like stradles and pike, work on jumps, like toe touches and herkeys, it will really help later onif you want to be a flyer work on balance, it helps ALOT! BeFABULOUSxo answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 6:56 pm: balance, splits (right left and strattle) since you have a trampeline.. do toe jumps, back flips, front flips, round off back hand springs, but yea balance is the key thing lol. and when doing cheers, you have to be really sharp about your moves! good luck! xO ali [ BeFABULOUSxo's advice column | Ask BeFABULOUSxo A Question ]
