2. I want my braces to not stand out so much (right now I have hot pink rubberbands) and I was thinking about getting either clear or white rubberbands. But I heard that the white rubberbands make your teeth look yellow. And I heard that the clear rubberbands turn the color of whatever food you eat. Is this true?? Does anybody have clear or white rubberbands that could give me some advice?? Help!! Thanks!!
SleepingBeauty answered Thursday January 13 2005, 4:55 pm: I had braces. I also tried white, clear, and every other color my orthodontist had. I never found any problem with any color except the white ones. The perfect white of the rubberbands against your teeth will make them look more yellow. So I suggest you choose a clear if it has to be one of those two. If you can use another color, I suggest grey. They'll blend with your braces without making them look bigger like black ones, and they won't make you look like you have paint on your teeth. I believe they're the best choice. Hope I was of some help. [ SleepingBeauty's advice column | Ask SleepingBeauty A Question ]
GreEneYedGodEss answered Thursday January 13 2005, 4:48 pm: 1st of all you're suppose to take out the rubberbands when you drink and eat, so then you wont have the problem of having them change colors. I use to have braces and I never had them change colors, but thats because I took them out whenever I ate or drank anything. So try that and see if it works. Hope I helped!!

The clear though, doesn't turn them the color of things you eat. So yea clear would be fine. [ xO_Natalie_Ox's advice column | Ask xO_Natalie_Ox A Question ]
LifeEqualsCheese answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 11:21 pm: Yes, it is true that clear rubber bands tend to turn into the color of the food you've eaten. White rubber bands don't make your teeth look yellow, but they turn yellow-ish if you don't brush them carefully. If you still want to get them, make sure to brush very thoroughly after every meal.
Braces aren't a big deal, don't worry about it. They're so common now, nobody is going to poke fun of you. Make them a fashion accessory and have them match what you're wearing each month. They'll be off in a bit, and you'll have straight teeth, so it's not something to stress over. [ LifeEqualsCheese's advice column | Ask LifeEqualsCheese A Question ]
Loverx33 answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 8:45 pm: yes, it happened to me. light pink kinda makes them so they dont show and its a pretty color. its what i have!
FernGully answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 6:54 pm: No matter what, your braces are going to be visible. That's just how it is when you have braces. Most people have them at some point in their life though, so it really isn't a big deal or something to be embarassed about. You should just stick with having some colour you really like, such as pink, because at least then you can have fun with your painful rubber bands before your braces are gone forever. jesuschick answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 6:51 pm: Don't get clear, they will turn the color of what you eat after having them a bit, and yeah white will make your teeth stand out more. I've tried them both before. Your best bet is to get a light pastel color that won't get too stained or stick out too bad... maybe a light blue or purple? Karen answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 6:28 pm: I had braces before and yes, white and clear rubberbands will stain and turn yellow. It won't make your teeth yellow; just the band. Hope I helped :)

Michelley answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 6:12 pm: Yah, that's what my orthodontist told me and dark colors will fade and look dull...one of my friends read an article on year-book pictures and it said light colors like light pink and light purple are supposed to make them less noticeable! I've had braces since 6th grade (*3 years..and I can NOT wait to get them off) and my fav. color is this one like teal blue but its kinda bright...but it doesn't fade so I like it. I switch between that and pink every time I go, just find a color (*or a combination of colors) that you really like..yellow supposedly makes your teeth look dirty and during st.patricks day a lot of ppl have green and it looks like lettuce stuck in their teeth..so stay away from those colors and try lighter colors!! You can alos try invisiline..

MyPainIsReal answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 6:10 pm: It's true. They stain. My friend had white ones one time and it made her teeth look as if they were yellow and like she didn't brush and the clear ones do exactly what you suspected. They are just braces. Get an awesome color you like and embrace the fact one day, you'll have straight teeth and you looked good getting them that way! =D [ MyPainIsReal's advice column | Ask MyPainIsReal A Question ]
kittygurl90 answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 5:59 pm: Yea its true...cuz the white ones get stained and so do the clear ones! i would just go with a light color..and they will be less notice able than the hot pink bands. Hope this helps!

BabyBlue848 answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 5:58 pm: It is true about the white but I never heard about the clear but blue green and black make your teeth look really white and really bright but light colors look good too
