Question Posted Saturday December 25 2004, 11:28 pm
I think I'm anorexic. But I might not be because everyone says that the first quality of an anorexic is denial. I don't know. My friends say that I am, because I don't eat much for lunch and most of the time don't eat lunch at all. I never considered myself underweight, but I guess I would be in like, the 10th percentile. What do you guys think?
Additional info, added Sunday December 26 2004, 12:46 pm: It's hard to eat more. It's not like making a decision to eat and just being able to eat. . also dont let your friends tell you what you are..they are jealous you are skinny..
xOCarrie answered Wednesday February 9 2005, 11:19 pm: Annorexia is a disorder where you can start off dieting or being obsessive over your weight and weigh yourself multiple times in a day. it doesnt nessescairly mean your skin and bones but it does lead there. Some people admit it`s a problem and some people have denial. All people are diffrent. i cant tell you if your annorexic because i`m not a doctor and you havent really given me enough information but i suggest you try increasing meals slowly since it doesnt sound to seriouse. Michelley answered Sunday December 26 2004, 9:10 pm: It depends, like if you don't eat because you're not hungry or like if you just wait to get home to eat bc you don't like school food or smthn...then you aren't anorexic. But if you starve yourself on purpose bc you are afraid of gaining weight, then you probably are (*or will become) anorexic. Just next time you aren't eating at lunch or dinner or where ever, ask yourself why you aren't eating. Some people have small stomachs or small appetites and they just don't eat a lot. If you're worried there might be something wrong w.you bc you never wanna eat, go to the doctor. They can put you on a medicine to increase your appetite if you're afraid you may become unhealthily underweight..just try to eat (*when you do eat..) healthy and nutricious foods

Advice_x33 answered Sunday December 26 2004, 3:20 pm: Well, after you eat, do you feel like your gonna throw up, or do you throw up? if so, you might be..
I'd have to see you to really know though, just try to eat more, or tell your parents and have them send you to a clinic, my friend was anorexic but she didnt tell anyone and she ended up passing out at school, and htey took her to a clinic..she only stayed there for about 3 weeks or so, and they sent her home, and now shes better..so try to do something about it.. Karen answered Sunday December 26 2004, 12:15 pm: Anorexia is when you don't eat at all but you still eat so you're not considered anorexic at this moment but you may have some type of eating disorder! I'm just like you! I never eat but then I do when I want to! I'm about 20 pounds underweight and it's hard for me to gain weight. Why don't you either start eating more or talk to your doctor about this? Hope I helped :)

NEVERLETG00 answered Sunday December 26 2004, 12:03 pm: i'm the same way! i barely eat alot, but i'm still not anorexic, anorexea is when you dont eat like at all.. you eat, i hope you eat more for dinner, but i'm the same way. but i also stay around my weight that i have been for almost 3 years, i really haven't gained nor lost any weight.. but i dont think your anorexic, you should just eat meals regularly and good portions of your food regularly. x0 [ NEVERLETG00's advice column | Ask NEVERLETG00 A Question ]
S_C answered Sunday December 26 2004, 7:55 am: Most of these people are wrong. I was anorexic, I saw a psychologist about it. There are 2 types of anorexia. One is when you are really really underweight even when you eat because of how fast your metabolism is or just because you eat super healthy foods and gain like nothing from it. I had the anorexia where you don't eat, I went almost 3 years with the biggest thing I ate every other day would be either a SMALL bowl of soup, or one slice of toast. If you are really underweight then you are anorexic, and I mean like 10-20lbs underwieght. Go to www.am-i-fat.com and search for where to enter your weight and height, it'll tell you whether your severly under, malnurished, perfect, watch out, obese. Oh, it might not be anorexia, it could just be some other thing. Look at what haliebop (or whatever it was) said, that's also true. [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
hailebop answered Sunday December 26 2004, 6:41 am: Well, what do you think about the idea of putting on weight, or starting to eat better lunches? If the idea of being larger really bothers you, then this is a cause for worry. If you wouldn't mind putting on weight but don't eat a lot out of habbit, then I think you've just got into bad eating habbits which you could moderate yourself with determination.
Anorexia isn't a weight, it's a mental state where you loose perspective and cannot see how thin you have become (hence the "denial"), and become addicted to the rush that loosing weight or being very slim gives you. You however seem fairly clued up about the fact that you are small, which seems to suggest that you are just underweight rather than in eating disorder territory. However, I would suggest speaking to a doctor about your weight for the peace of mind of you and your friends. A doctor can assess whether your weight is a problem and give you practical advice about how to improve your lifestyle if you've got into bad habbits with skipping meals, or, if he decides you do have an eating disorder, help you get over that, as these things are hard to do on your own. Good luck and all the best. [ hailebop's advice column | Ask hailebop A Question ]

Sherry answered Sunday December 26 2004, 1:25 am: Anoerexia would be eating no food at all. But of course you have an eating disorder but its not exactly anorexia. Why dont you eat more? Talk to your doctor about it! [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
