my little sister is 8 years old and she just got sick today and no one is going to be home for a week so we cant get to the hospital but she has a temp of 103 degrees and its not lowering at all, does anyone know anything i can do to help lower it or make her feel any better? thanks!! jamziix16 answered Thursday December 2 2004, 5:41 pm: if you live in a subdivision, and you are close to one of your neighbors, you could ask them to give her a lift to the hospital.or if you have any junior/senior friends that can drive, ask them.. a 103 degree fever shouldn't be left alone.. she needs some sort of medical help. if it's not going down, it needs to be seen. xObEaChbAbEoX answered Thursday December 2 2004, 1:47 pm: If it is 103 degrees you should NOT call 911 and it does not give you brain damage whoever said that cause i had a temperature when i was eight as high as 105.2 degrees i wasn't even sent to the hospital. If she turns purple at all get her to the hosptial if its that high put a cold cloth on her head and have a docctor see her and call ur parents [ xObEaChbAbEoX's advice column | Ask xObEaChbAbEoX A Question ]

Also, give her confort things, like a favorite stuffed animal, blanket or food. People feel better when they are compfortable. I would also get a moist rag for her head. Alin75 answered Wednesday December 1 2004, 9:20 pm: I agree with the first person to answer this question. Please be sure that you know any allergies your sister might have before you adminster anything. Finally, remeber to make her drink quite a bit (she may not want to but its very important to the recovery process, much more so than eating). Make sure the drink doesnt have too many stimulants in it (preferrably not soda and certainly not coffee to state the obvious). Warm milk is a good one. Otherwise keep her warm and give her some C vitamin (just a regular dose).
By all means DO contact an adult if the symptoms get worse, or dont get any better in the near future. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
Sherry answered Wednesday December 1 2004, 9:18 pm: Well, for now make sure she stays in bed and is warm..make sure she eats soup and all that stuff that you eat when your sick. Take her temp reglalry and if it gets higher than 105 I'd call an aunt/uncle/neighbor or something so you could go to the hospital. But right now you should call your parents and tell them whats going on! [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
adviceguy answered Wednesday December 1 2004, 9:13 pm: The only answer I can give you is: SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. Any persistant high fever can lead to serious medical problems. You are not a healthcare professional and neither am I. Only a trained professional can accurately can give advice which will help your sister. If you cannot get to the hospital, I recommend you contact EMS or another transport service.
manifesta answered Wednesday December 1 2004, 9:06 pm: If it gets any higher, you need to call 911 to get her to the emergency room. If it stays at 103 or below, she can take Tylenol or Advil to help bring the fever down. If she seems a lot worse, though, like vomiting, diarrhea, fainting, etc., definitely go to the emergency room. If you can, call your parents (or other responsible person) and ask them what you should do. [ manifesta's advice column | Ask manifesta A Question ]
