Tell her to apply for lots of smaller scholarships and financial aid. There are TONS of people that can only afford to go to college because they've gotten $$ from different places. She can also take out loans to pay for it. For now [[ i don't know how old you guys are ]], she should probably start working on trying to get a job so she can save up some money on her own.

well what she can do is get a job and start saving up... by the time shes 18 if she has enuff money to support herself she can go to college... if not she can go to a community college for a couple of years than transfer to a university by the time she can support herself... community colleges arent all that badd :)

there is always financial aid. Almost everyone cant afford to go to college they get help through financial aid. Or she can join the military like me and have it all paid for in full. But i doubt that will happen. Good luck though

well any scholarship is better then none. and she should talk to her parents about what she wants to do. its her education and it should be her choice as to where she wants to go. and just be there for her with whatever she choses. hope i helped.

well, in ireland every subject you get an A in you can take for free. Is that far away enough.
Wow, this ones hard. You could help her raise some money. Wow those are some crappy parents.

AH

She should stand up, and so should you. You both should sit her parents down and give her a long talk. She's old enough to move out and thats what she wants to do, her parents are no longer in control of her life. She's 18 she's old enough to make her own decisions and choose her own future. Not her parents. Her parents cant do that. And if a talk like that doesn't work start a petition and get donations with the signatures. She's not a little girl anymore

You can tell her to apply for lots of smaller scholarships or ones that apply to whatever she'd be going to college for.

My parents and i talk about this all the time. Well if she's pretty smart, then hopefully she'll get a partial scholarship. That should cover hopefully half of it, then there's always the other half, and the books/ room and board. I always like to think that there are 2 options.

Number one, she could do what her parents want, and go to a community college close by. She could live at home and just drive back and forth, then she would save the costs of room and board. Hopefully she has a good relationship with her parents and they won't put restrictions on her if she does live there. Other wise maybe she could go to the closest 'real' college and commute there and still live at home.

Or, she could get a partial scholarship and go away for college. There are always school loans she could take out, and you don't have to start paying them off, until she gets her first job after graduating. Maybe even her parents could make payments with her on her school loan like half and half or just help out a bit. Also she could do that, and try to get a cheap apartment and get a roomate to cut costs.

Hope i gave you and your friend some ideas! :-)

well if she goes to a junior college for a year and really works hard and pulls like all a's or something she can get a big scholarship for a big school or she can get a job or a loan but a loan follows u for a long time. if shes in florida she could try bright futures but that might jus be in florida. (thats the state where its hot all the time)
