Question Posted Tuesday August 17 2004, 5:55 pm

I heard that if you eat 6 small meals a day, instead of 3 big its better for you. Any truth to this?

yes, I've heard the same thing. It speeds up your metabolism and helps with digestion. The only thing you need to make sure of is that you eat the same amount (or a normal amount) just split into different intervals of the day. Hope this helps you. :)

Different things are better for different people .. I could never manage 6 meals a day -- I barely have the time // appetite for one or two, but for some people, eating 5-6 small meals a day is better. I think it's whatever works for you.

What the hell?! Who has time for 6 meals a day!? If you didn't spend so much time on your computer maybe you wouldn't have to worry about this and could barly manage in at least 2 meals!

Yes and no. There's advantages to eating six small ones,it cuts down on binges, but it really makes no difference to me either way.

Hi! This is Candice's little sister, Valerie. I'm in sixth grade.

You may get hungerier before or after one of your little meals, so you might end up having 7 or 8 little meals which is more than three big ones, making it the unhealthier choice.

selectopaque answered Tuesday August 17 2004, 6:13 pm:
Yes, it's very true. Your stomach is only as large as your fist, so you only need to eat enough in one filling to fill your stomach. Any more than that is only going to make your stomach expand more. Also, eating more often will keep your matabolism up, without making it so you gain weight because they are smaller meals.
